I was up way late last night with a typing project. Around 11:30 p.m. I heard a large vehicle pull up. It sounded like a garbage truck and it sat idling in the street. I was pretty preoccuplied with my typing, until finally a thought came to me and I looked out the window. it was a fire truck and a paramedic truck.
My stomach dropped. I was transported back to 4-1/2 years ago when the same rigs (same truck numbers and everything) pulled up to my house. I put my coat on and ran outside. I couldn't tell which house they were at so I stood out in the driveway until the paramedics brought out a gourney. It was my next door neighbor who is quite elderly (I bet early 80's). He was sitting upright so I'm thinking it was a heart issue. But he was alive and wasn't in a bag like my poor dh.
I was just plain sick with my poor neighbor's situation, as well as those awful memories. I'll probably stop by this weekend with some cookies to see how everyone is doing. His poor wife is probably worried to death. : (
Re: Something unsettling happened last night
That would be incredibly unsettling.

I wish there was something I could say. Something comforting and full of love.
I can't imagine how unsettling that must have been. And you are so kind to stop by this weekend.
Oh flex!!

Husbands should be like Kleenex: Soft, strong, and disposable.
I'm so sorry Flexi. That is very sweet of you to bring some cookies to them.
I'm sorry Flexie.
There was a fire in our apartment complex last year and the sound of fire truck sirens still makes my stomach drop.
I can't image how much worse that would be =(
That has to be scary. even without a personal experience like yours, Flexie, seeing emergency crews in the middle of the night at someone's house always makes my heart stop.
Big hugs to you.
