This week has been dragging on. What are your plans for today and for those in the ME, what are your plans for the weekend.
I have a playgroup to go to in about an hour and then back to my apartment to escape the rain.
QOTD: What kind of flooring do you prefer in your living room? Tiles, carpet, cement, wood, etc?
Re: Happy Thursday
I should have put a "?" at the end of that first paragraph. Anyway.
QOTD: I love darker wood floors where the wood pieces (can't think of what they are called) are a bit wide.
Hi! H is heading to London tonight for this weekend's Chelsea v. QPR match. I have grand plans of laying on the couch in pajamas with a cup of tea and watching television. I can't wait.
QOTD: I prefer wood but I have tiling.
Is it parquet flooring that you are thinking of?
I'm in work at the moment, but I was invited out for a corporate thing so I am leaving the office at 10.50am and going to the races!! Even though it is pretty horrible weather here it will be indoors with a 4 course lunch, tv screens, tipster, private betting, bar, live band after the races... not due back to the dropoff point til 8 tonight so I won't see N today... :-((
QOTD: I prefer carpet. With our weather here a lot of the year it is just so much more cosy than tiles or wood. We had tiles in our apartment and hated it.
My week has been very unproductive and also kind of bad professionally. Just going to see it as an opportunity for growth and move on! Today I am going to return some stuff at a home depot kind of store, work on a symposium I am organizing and hopefully write on the dissertation.
QOTD: I love wood flooring
Morning!
No plans for today, I'm sick again so M and I are just going to relax at home. Colour, play with play doh, cars, dinosaurs and watch movies.
QOTD: I really like hard wood. We currently have tomettes which are terracotta coloured hexagon shaped antique tiles and a Persian rug in the living room and a cow skin rug in the dining area. I love the tomettes and hope that our next house has them too.
I am so happy it is finally the weekend here. After working 12 straight days, I needed a break. This is my last full weekend with the kids before I head back to the States without them for training so I'm looking forward to some quality family time.
QOTD: I also love dark hardwood floors. Someday, when we buy a house back in the States, I am going to be all about the wood floors.
DH and his parents are a family funeral. DH may be back tonight, I am not sure yet. But either way, I'm dog- and cockatoo-sitting for them. The cockatoo is pretty okay with the change in caretakers, the dog is not so much. She's okay, just her routine is off and her really familiar people aren't here. She's good with me, but she'll be happy when her "real" people get back.
QOTD: I prefer carpet. I know carpet is out of fashion, but I tend to sit on the floor a good bit and carpet is the most comfortable flooring to sit on. I really like plush, wall-to-wall with nice, thick, cushy padding.
In my house growing up, we had cheap carpet until I was about 11 and then it was replaced with the good stuff, with good, high quality padding. It was still in good shape when I moved out last year. When I own my house, I am definitely having the best quality carpet and padding I can afford.
Just staying in with DS today and tutoring some students this evening. Tonight we are going to see the U.S. Navy band play on the beach down from our house. They got here 2 days ago and are leaving tomorrow.
QOTD: wood
Today I'm going and doing my next Couch25K workout (I will be doing that as soon as I get offline) and laundry (our washer is broken so we go and do it at the laundromat and dry it at home, so I'm on drier duty), make major headway on my Bible in 90 days challenge (day 90 is Saturday and I'm in 1 Corinthians, so I have a lot to do in three days, but I may be able to finish!) and other than that I'm not sure... but it is 8:28 in the morning, so I suppose I have time to figure out what else is going on.
QOTD: I like wood floors best, though I actually like wood laminate as well. It's tougher with pretty much the same look, and it's friendly to dog nails.
"I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels." -Isaiah 61:10 NKJV
Morning! I have my first official guitar lesson this evening, and I'm looking forward to it. A friend gave me lessons years ago when he was leaving our Bible study and was the only one of us who played, but those were hardly professional lessons and it was just enough to be able to play the songs with the most basic chords (A, C, D, E, G, some minors, etc). I don't have big ambitions to be a concert guitar player, but it would be nice if I didn't have to veto every other song when playing for a Bible study because there are too many chords I don't know or that are too hard for me to play. The only downside is that I told my guitar teacher my musical background and now he's got high hopes about how much progress I'll make because he's sure I'll be someone who takes it seriously and practices all the time. cough... cough... um... we'll see about that.
QOTD: I like a mix. For looks, I love wood or wood laminat. For warmth in the morning and sitting comfortably on the floor, a good carpet. I think for our kids I'd also like a mix. DH is all about carpet, but I keep telling him it's hard to play legos, playmobile, or other types of toy games on carpets. Growing up our finished basement had a concrete floor, which was actually great because we could draw on it with chalk.
Happy Thursday! The last 2 days were rainy and humid but today was gorgeous. It was nice.
QOTD: What kind of flooring do you prefer in your living room? Tiles, carpet, cement, wood, etc?
I like hardwood with a huge area rug. Right now we have a thick kind of shag area rug and I love it. So comfy to sit on and I still have the look of hardwood everywhere else in the room.
Happy Thursday! I'm done packing our whole lives and am waiting for hubby to park the van out front. Last night we "camped" in our living room watching Friends on the computer. Neither of us could sleep so we started talking about this new "chapter". He's so happy to be moving close to work where we can have a better quality of living. The weather's bad but it's not raining, maybe it will hold!
QOTD I love the look of dark hardwood floor and would definitely go for that if I owned a place. I would also mix it with marble, which I also love, maybe for the foyer, kitchen and bathroom. The house I grew up in has marble floors so I'm kind of "attached" to it.
