Anyone get into the NYCM?

I applied on a whim. Didn't get a spot, but it's okay since I'm probably not ready for it. I'll try again next year and if not, run with a charity the following year. I would really like to do it when I'm 40.

Re: Anyone get into the NYCM?

  • I'm running, but I didn't get in through the lottery. I'm excited, but nervous about finding time to train.

  • Nope.  I'm pretty bummed about it.  It's the day before my 30th birthday.  It would have been my first full marathon.  I honestly thought there could be no better way to end my 20s.  I thought about trying to fundraise in, but I don't think I could ever get the amount of money they want you to raise.

  • My best friend and her running partner (another good friend of mine) both applied. My bff got in!! Our other friend did not. Friend #2 is going to fundraise and they are going to split the responsibility so they can run together. So excited for them (but wouldn't not want to do the fundraising part lol).

I was worried about that too with my kids out of school for the summer because I usually run while they're in school and it would have totally changed my schedule.

    Good luck to you!

I'm sorry.  Sad  I thought the same thing about fundraising.  I like the idea but realize it will be tough.

That's great!  At least one got in so the burden isn't as bad.  Congrats to them!
