Ok Ladies....I need your help with a decorating challenge if you're bored...

A friend of mine just bought a very "interesting" home.... It is 6k square feet and has an indoor pool....it has a LOT of potential...but I don't believe the previous owners have updated the decor in a very very long time....and even with that being said, I dont think they had very good taste to begin with... lol

I just wanted to see if anyone wanted to throw out any ideas for these spaces... he should be moving in within a couple of weeks and I promised I would help him decorate!

I am only uploading the worst rooms , but if u want to see more of the house , let me know and I will upload more..

image

This is the "office nook" as soon as you walk into the house pretty much... please take note of the awful metallic psychodelic wallpaper !! Indifferent you will notice a trend.....

image

this is the master bedroom....again....sweet sweet metallic wallpaper ...and even better... some kind of tree mural...

image

the master bath vanity area off the bedroom...i dont have a picture of the bathroom itself but the theme continues....

image

this is the living area... u can see the pool thru the window....i think he wants to keep the forrest green carpet for some reason....also...please take note of the sweet tiki God in the middle of the room lol

image

and this is the bar that is connected to the living area...its a big wide open space... THIS carpet, will go...

  • This place looks sort of amazing. I don't have the time to come up with suggestion right now, other than THAT BATHROOM HAS TO GO!!

  • Hi, welcome :)  Don't take this the wrong way (I'm the blunt one Stick out tongue ) but I sincerely hope your friend has lots of money left over after buying this 6000 sq ft...home.  This level of...character...isn't a DIY project.  This is call a few designers and solicit bids and seek professional guidance on what to prioritize.  Things will go much more smoothly and quickly for your friend if he can come up with a budget to give to a professional and let them run with it.
  • thanks guys! it will be interesting lol

and tarheels, he will have the money for sure...but hes very much a DIY kinda guy and doesnt typically like hiring people to do things lol

and dont worry about offending me...lol its not my house!

  • Redecorate? Why? This is a most excellent shag pad man. :)

     LOL ...yeah....its something!!!

  • Okay, all he needs is peacock or two for the yard. Some blow, booze and a few leopard print throws. Oh and bathing suits optional sign next to the pool. ;)

  • Okay, its going to be a lot of work. Defiantly buy or rent the best steamer you can find to remove the wall paper. Find a neutral paint palette and repaint the interior. Just do what ever you can to tone it down. Try to replace or refinish as much of the black and gold combinations in the house. Take it one room at a time. And receive the best friend of the year award with grace. :)

  • I have no tips other than to ask you to please, please take lots of pictures of the process and write a blog about it. Can't wait to see the transformation.

I agree with PP . . the master bath has to go!

I just snorted coffee all over my desk!!

This house is kind of fantastic. Talk about great bones- it has some amazing architectural features. But holy renovating project batman. The right person with the right vision and the right bank account could make it fantastic. And I kind of want the bad ass tiki man.
