s/o Poll - What religion do you subscribe to?

I was raised and confirmed Lutheran and identify as such.  The H was raised Baptist or non-denom.  We currently go to a non-denominational church after trying out a few popular ones in our town.
I don't want to be on MSNBC, yo.

Re: s/o Poll - What religion do you subscribe to?

  • I was raised and baptized Pentecostal, but now consider myself non-dom. E is kind of a mess. He was baptized Baptist but was not raised in church and honestly doesn't really subscribe to any religion.  We currently don't go to church, I have my little praise service in my car daily while I pray and listen to K-Love to and from work.

  • H & I were both raised Catholic.  He asked me last night if we're going to baptize the boys.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    Twin boys due 7/25/12
  • I am a practicing Catholic. My husband was baptized Lutheran but does not practice anything.

  • I was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Church but couldn't tell you much about it.

I do not associate with any religion now and would probably say I'm agnostic.

  • Raised and educated Catholic...made all my sacraments.  Last time I went to Mass was in December for Sophia's Baptism but after the nonsense I had to go through to even get her baptized I've been taking a hard look as to whether I want to continue down that road.  I have a difficult time with the lack flexibility (for lack of a better word) on certain topics but I can't bring myself to say "I'm out" because I feel like I'm turning my back on my family and my traditions.

  • I was raised as a Catholic and still practice it. H isn't affiliated with any religion but we had already discussed our kids being raised as Catholics as well. They will be baptized.
  • I was never baptized. My parents wanted me to be able to grow up and pick the religion I wanted be associated with. They were both raised (and forced) into the Catholic religion and grew up hating it so they said they didn't want that for me.

I guess I'm in that "finding myself" time. I believe there is a God, but I don't 100% believe in any one religion. Though, I will say I have't really educated myself much on many different religions in depth.

This is me exactly. I have been to non-denom churches my entire "adult" life but when I am home visiting family we still go to mass.

ETA: Sorry, not all of my sacraments, we were not married in the Catholic church. My husband was raised Baptist.

  • None.  I'm about as non-religious as they come.

I like learning about different religions, but have no interest in practicing any particular one.

  • Raised Catholic (baptized, communion, confirmed, NOT married in the church).  I married a Southern Baptist, so the Church doesn't recognize my marriage or my children.

I grew away from Catholicism and he grew away from Baptism and we met in the middle (sort of) as non-denom Christians.  We're both very happy with our church and we both feel more comfortable and like we have a better relationship with God.

Same here, only reversed!  The laughing was M's reaction.  We didn't baptize, much to my family's dismay.

  • I was raised a Jehovahs Witness. I don't go to church hardly because I find it hard to go without P. P was raised Catholic and later practiced Baptist and decided that they didn't quite add up. Now he goes with me and we were going to start studying with a couple but his shift changed and now he can't make it. I think he was baptized as Catholic and I wasn't because of going in and out of the Hall over the years and I didn't think I deserved to be baptized. Once my classes are over I will be going twice a week
  • I was raised Christian but not in a church, and converted to Catholicism a few years ago. My H was raised Christian but doesn't subscribe to any denomination.

While he was in Basic he went to Catholic mass every Sunday to learn more about it because it's what I am, which I thought was ridiculously sweet, but he still isn't a huge fan. We don't talk much about religion but it will probably become a bigger part of our lives once we have kids.

  • H and I are both devout, practicing Catholics.

  • I want to say that I am on the fence. I am Christian, and love the Lord, but I am going thought a change in beliefs. I used to be really evangelical, but not anymore. I guess I will say that I am a post modern Christian. I love some the traditions of eastern religions, and like to employ them in my own spiritual journey.

DH's family think we are hippies. Who knows, we might be.

We don't go to church right now. Which is kind of sad, I miss community.

  • I was raised LDS aka Mormon. Now....confused. It's like, I agree with a lot of things the Mormon church has to say, but I can't believe that drinking alcohol or getting tattoos is going to keep me from heaven. I still go from time to time.

H was raised Christian but never really went to church. He now considers himself agnostic.

  • I was baptized in an Episcopal church, when my parents got divorced, I started going to both Congregationalist churches and Lutheran churches with my mother, was an atheist and then an agnostic as a teen, and now consider myself a very liberal Episcopalian. I follow Lent, which is the holiest time of year for me, as it is prescribed in the Anglican Church (which the Episcopal Church is the American version of). I think about God every single day, and try to ask for His guidance in all that I do. God is why I'm a liberal, truly. If it weren't for my faith, I'd think everyone should just bootstraps it. ;)
I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.
  • I was raised Non denominational Christian. M's father is a Nazarene pastor. We go to a Non denom. church here.

  • H and I were both raised Lutheran, although we met while attending a Catholic University. After researching a few different denominations, I think the ELCA best fits with what I believe.

After we moved, we tried a few churches in our area, but there is a lack of options around here, so we never really found one that we liked. We do attend church when we visit our parents, and we'll sometimes read over sermons from H's childhood church that are posted online. I do miss the fellowship and feeling of community that comes with a neighborhood congregation.

  • None.  Maybe Agnostic, but I'm even iffy on that.
    Shot first, questions later.
  • I was raised Catholic but confirmed Lutheran(my mom dropped Catholicism after my grandma died) and have been identified as such ever since. DH was raised Baptist and thinks my Lutheran services are boring(lolsies). In Chicago we went to a Lutheran church with a "contemporary" service. We're going to try out a couple places here but there's a non-denom that is very welcoming and active in the LGBT community that I'm really hoping works out.

You should join an Amish church and learn to make me some delicious pretzels and beautiful handcrafted quilts.

Are Amish known for pretzels or something?  B/c the Amish market near us makes AWESOME homemade big pretzels.  I want one now ...and one of their chocolate chip cookies.

  • I was raised Baptist.  I was baptized in the Methodist church.  I went to Catholic School from 5th grade through 12th grade. I rebeled for a while and decided I was a Wican.  Now, we attend a non-denom Christian Church.  I consider myself to be a Christian Spiritualist.

Apparently.  Every Amish market I've ever gone to has had delicious pretzels the size of my head.  Basically anything the Amish make is delicious and/or beautiful.  They should put all their crafts on Pinterest and make us all jealous.

That's pretty damn funny.  I don't know if it was intentional, though.

I was raised mainline protestant.  Baptised methodist, confirmed presbyterian.

After years of never really believing it but trying to, I'm now an out atheist.

  • H and I were both rasied Catholic, up to date with sacraments. H still identifies himself as Catholic. For me, I think I disagree more than I agree with Catholic Doctrine right now (it's close). I started attending a Non-Denom church in High School which I went to until I moved. Currently I'm "church shopping" around our current base, but haven't found a good fit for both of us yet.
    I want the COOOOOKIE!

And maybe you could ask them to stop running puppy mills.
