S/O moving and organizing

1. Does moving bother you?  Do you see it as a chore and a hassle, or a new opportunity and an exciting event?

2. How about BIG moves, like cross-country?  Does that terrify you or make you antsy to do it like, now?

3. Do you currently live in an apt or a house, and would that affect your decision to move?

4. Poop.

Re: S/O moving and organizing

  • Moving has never bothered me! It's exciting and new! My favorite part is unpacking and deciding all the new places stuff will go!

Cross country is a little more tricky... Personally, I cannot picture myself living in any other city than I do.

I live in a house! I love our home! We would only buy homes, if we moved again.

  • 1. Does moving bother you?  Do you see it as a chore and a hassle, or a new opportunity and an exciting event?  It doesn't bother me...I see it as an opportunity for a new beginning. I love cleaning everything out, paring it down, reorganizing my stuff, etc.

    2. How about BIG moves, like cross-country?  Does that terrify you or make you antsy to do it like, now?  I can't say this is something I'm considering doing again...at this point, we moved ~800 miles a little over a year ago, and now we are 100% happy where we are, so I don't see it happening again. It doesn't terrify me - if an amazing job opportunity came up, for example, I could move to California and make a go of it and be excited about that.

    3. Do you currently live in an apt or a house, and would that affect your decision to move?  Obviously it hasn't mattered...we lived in a house until Feb of last year, now we live in an apartment, and are choosing to move. So no, it doesn't make a huge difference to me. The major issue that would impact my decision is if we had property to sell.

    4. Poop.  I haven't eaten much today so I haven't pooped. Bummer.

  • 1. Does moving bother you?  Do you see it as a chore and a hassle, or a new opportunity and an exciting event?

No, it doesn't bother me and I'm excited about it.  But the actual act of packing and moving all my belongings is absolutely a hassle!

    2. How about BIG moves, like cross-country?  Does that terrify you or make you antsy to do it like, now?

It wasn't across country, but we did move 10 hours away years ago (and back again).  We were young, apartment living, so we didn't have a lot.  Now - being older, more belongings, and a child - might be a different story!

    3. Do you currently live in an apt or a house, and would that affect your decision to move?

House.  Moved a year ago from a house to our present one.  I do have to say - that was the biggest move (stuff wise and kid wise) and the hardest so far.  I'll be happy to not move for many years!

    1. Does moving bother you?  Do you see it as a chore and a hassle, or a new opportunity and an exciting event? Both: an exciting hassle.

    2. How about BIG moves, like cross-country?  Does that terrify you or make you antsy to do it like, now? I have never had the opportunity, but I would be scared sh!tless if the opportunity arose. I have a fear of the unknown and making a decision that will somehow mess up the rest of my life.

    3. Do you currently live in an apt or a house, and would that affect your decision to move? Apartment. I guess it would be harder if I owned a home, having to be able to sell it and make some kind of profit.

    4. Poop. See scared sh!tless.

  • 1. I love moving. I actually like change and get bored living in the same place for too long. This is going to be a problem since H plans on our next home being our forever home lol.

    2. I also think cross-country moves are exciting but they do make me a little bit nervous

    3. A house. Sort of. We can't stand it here so we are just going to rent it out.

  • 1. I don't really mind moving. It's a hassle, but I like change and I've done it enough in the 9 years I've lived here that I've gotten used to it.

    2. I would love to do a big move, if we could find jobs in a particular region. That seems like the daunting part.

    3. Apt, but we would like a house. I'd hate to move this summer and move again next if we were to get a house.

  • 1. Does moving bother you?  Do you see it as a chore and a hassle, or a new opportunity and an exciting event? It is a hassle AND it's exciting. I hate packing. I hate unpacking. I love being in a new place. This is the longest I have ever been in one apt (and one city) since living with my parents. I am so antsy.

    2. How about BIG moves, like cross-country?  Does that terrify you or make you antsy to do it like, now? Bring it on.

    3. Do you currently live in an apt or a house, and would that affect your decision to move? Apartment. I don't think it does, except that we don't own, so it's much less complicated to pick up and go. Wherever we moved to, we would be in an apt as well.

    4. Poop. Working on it.

    1. Does moving bother you?  Do you see it as a chore and a hassle, or a new opportunity and an exciting event? I love the build up to moving, but the actual process - boxes, furniture, blah - I can't stand. I just want it to be over and everything put away.

    2. How about BIG moves, like cross-country?  Does that terrify you or make you antsy to do it like, now? I wouldn't want to.

    3. Do you currently live in an apt or a house, and would that affect your decision to move? House. We're outgrowing it though, so we're hoping to amp up the remodeling and get something bigger before we have another kid.

    4. Poop. I wish.

    Oh, FFS.
  • 1. Does moving bother you?  Do you see it as a chore and a hassle, or a new opportunity and an exciting event? I love it.  Being someone who loves to purge her belongings, I use it as a time to donate a lot of seldom-used items.  I like being "introduced" to a new space. Also, the time right after move-in is the time my house is the most organized. hah!

    2. How about BIG moves, like cross-country?  Does that terrify you or make you antsy to do it like, now? I have a suspicion this will happen to me in the next year or so, and it makes me friggin' pumped. I like organizing what will happen, a new job opportunity, new neighborhoods to explore, new restaurants, new friends...it's fun.

    3. Do you currently live in an apt or a house, and would that affect your decision to move?  Apartment, doesn't affect me.  I'd be a lot more stressed if I had a mortgage.

It's a chore and a hassle. When I'm all moved in and organized, then it's exciting.

    2. How about BIG moves, like cross-country?  Does that terrify you or make you antsy to do it like, now?

It scares me a lot. I don't plan on ever living outside of WA state.

    3. Do you currently live in an apt or a house, and would that affect your decision to move?

Apartment. I'd be much more likely to move than if I was in a house. H and I are lazy though. Moving sucks. That's a big reason why we're still in our apartment.

  • 1. Does moving bother you?  Do you see it as a chore and a hassle, or a new opportunity and an exciting event? A little bit of both. I like the excitement of being somewhere new, since all my moves so far have been to bigger and better things. I really don't mind packing all that much, I just put a movie in and listen to it while I work. Moving day drives me nuts (mostly because DH is a ball of stress about these things).

    2. How about BIG moves, like cross-country?  Does that terrify you or make you antsy to do it like, now? Never done it, so no comment.

    3. Do you currently live in an apt or a house, and would that affect your decision to move? Apt. Hopefully house hunting this year depending on a few things. I can't wait to be in my own house!!! So moving to a house I can afford, I would do it tomorrow. If I were to move to another apartment, probably wouldn't.

    4. Poop. Yes, I do on occasion.

  • 1. Does moving bother you?  Do you see it as a chore and a hassle, or a new opportunity and an exciting event?
I hate moving. I hate packing, and I hate unpacking, and I hate spending the first three months I live somewhere going to the wrong cabinet for a dish.  Though last time we moved, we hired movers and this made a HUGE difference.

    2. How about BIG moves, like cross-country?  Does that terrify you or make you antsy to do it like, now?
I've never done it,  but I'm not opposed to it. My husband and I always talk about how we'd love to live somewhere in CA or WA,  but the places we'd want to live are probably just as expensive as Boston, and our families are close here, so that's the end of that.

    3. Do you currently live in an apt or a house, and would that affect your decision to move?
Apartment. I hate it, but it's a lot of space and driveway parking for not a lot of money. Our goal was to stay here until we can buy,  but who knows if that will work out as quickly as we'd  like.

    4. Poop.

    1. Does moving bother you?  Do you see it as a chore and a hassle, or a new opportunity and an exciting event? The actual act of the packing and moving sucks, but I like the idea of new chapters and opportunities.

    2. How about BIG moves, like cross-country?  Does that terrify you or make you antsy to do it like, now? Hmmm, generally I'm up for this, but H casually dropped a bomb the other night that a certain situation at work might result in us moving to San Fran in the future. Most likely only temporarily, but still, it made me nervous to think about.

    3. Do you currently live in an apt or a house, and would that affect your decision to move? I love our house and we're finally getting a bunch of work done this summer that will make it really awesome. I don't want to leave!

    4. Poop. I wish. My tummy has been off the last two days and I would love for something to happen already so I can feel better.

  • 1. Does moving bother you?  Do you see it as a chore and a hassle, or a new opportunity and an exciting event?

Not really bother me but i have only moved 3 times in my life, from my moms house to my first apt, then to my second and now to my third. I look at it as a new opportunity and something new but I am working with limited experience here.

    2. How about BIG moves, like cross-country?  Does that terrify you or make you antsy to do it like, now?

I can see myself getting antsy to do a big cross country move, I would totally want to hire someone to pack my house up and move it for me because I would be paranoid of screwing everything up.

    3. Do you currently live in an apt or a house, and would that affect your decision to move?

In a apartment currently, it wouldnt change my opinion about moving at all I would just have to plan better.

    4. Poop.apparently my body is against pooping today.
