Have you seen this video of the a-hole baseball fans?
Re: Have you seen this video of the a-hole baseball fans?
It wasn't grabbed from the little boy's hands.
It looked like he was reaching for it, too, but it looks like you're right, technically they did not literally take it out of his hands.
If it were me, I would have given the kid the ball because I don't give a shiit about baseball and even if it were fun to catch it in the heat of the moment, I don't want a random baseball cluttering up my house - where would I put it when I got home?
However, I don't think they're douchey for not giving it to the kid. The kid didn't catch it, they didn't rip it from his poor little hands, and it's a good lesson - just because you cry doesn't mean you're going to get what you want.
Oh fine. Whatever. I hate it when everyone disagrees with me! Well, you're all a- holes too. So there. A-holes all around! LOL
* Takes baseball and sulks home.
I would have absolutely given that little boy the ball. But I am not a huge baseball fan. However, H IS a big baseball fan and he would have given him the ball too.
Now, I don't think they're necessarily douchebags for not giving him the ball, but I do think they're super douchey for being all gloaty about it. I mean, they weren't like, "nanny nanny boo boo kid look at mah ball!", but if you see the little boy next to you sobbing about not catching the ball, maybe it would be nice if you didn't pose for pictures with it with a big ass smile on your face.
I don't buy that they were not aware of the little boy or why he was upset. At all. And yes, I would have given a no nothing foul ball to a little kid whose dad was obviously holding him up to try and catch it.
Also, I have been to games and 80% of the time when the players do this, unless they hand it to a hot chick in the front, they general toss them to kids in the area.
I would have given the kid a ball.
WBL, did you see the footage of the kid that gave the ball he caught to a smaller boy who was upset that he missed it? It made me cry. lol
They don't deserve to rock out to Centerfield. Yep, I play mean.
lol Exactly.
I don't know. I think the kid was crying because he was scared about being held up in a weird swarm of people reaching. Not an instant flip-out because he didn't catch the ball. He's really young looking.
That's more like it! Friendsies again!
And cleo, no I didn't see that, I was too busy being knee-jerk pissed off at these people. Heh. But it sounds really sweet.
Unless a player or ball boy puts the ball directly into some kid's mitt, all balls are fair play.
The people who got the ball are not a-holes. They are fans. I would have probably tried to grab the ball too because that's what fans do.
I have caught balls and I sometimes give them to kids sitting next to me because the look on their faces is totally worth it but if it was from a favorite player or it was a ball from an important play there is no way I'd give to some kid.
No one is ever under obligation to give the ball to anyone unless it's a home run hit by a player of the opposing team in which cases, it's almost expected that you throw the ball back or face the wrath of the fans sitting next to you.
It's most likely that the kid was scared by the commotion of the people around him and that's what made him cry.
I thought the old dude picked it up from the ground?
Anyway, I'm the baseball fan in the family. DH and I went to a minor league game last year, the AAA team of the Padres was in town. At the end of the game as the players were leaving the field, there was a group gathered around the tunnel the Padres were walking through. Of course, all the kids were yelling for a player to toss them a ball. I recognized one of the players and called him by name. When he looked up and saw that I was wearing a jersey from his team, He tossed me a ball. You bet I kept that sh!t. I even gave everyone else a "ha-ha" like in The Simpsons.
Of course, he was traded the next year. I'm cursed like that.
