PIP Update: Kitchen Counter Reno on Budget!
Okay, folks... let me know what you think! We sanded everything down and started over (well, minus reapplying the primer- which added more depth... DH still has to do the top coats- but overall, I think it's a dramatic improvement!
I also definitely want to stain the cabinets to a darker brown now and add aged-bronze hardware... but that will be in a few months when my MIL and mom can help!

FIRST ATTEMPT (way too dark and blotchy):

SECOND ATTEMPT: (lighter but still blotchy)

FINAL ATTEMPT (hopefully!):

too funny... I know- this has quite the process!! Thanks for bearing with me!
It will be at least a few months before we start the next installment.... lol. I need a break!
Nice job. I'm sure that was a lot of hard work. Can't wait to see the new cabinets and hardware.

I'll be painting/glazing them a dark brown like I did our bathroom:

It looks like a lot of work, but is the pattern supposed to be so big or can you apply it smaller also?
I think it will look better once the cabinets are a dark brown/espresso.
Are you united with the CCOKCs?
you can cut the sponge in to numerous sizes and apply that way. I did it with various sizes- so that there was no particular pattern. It may just look a bit big because we applied on top of minerals rather than priming again and starting completely over (per customer service advice!)...
Keep in mind that you don't want to use very small pieces because not only will it take you for.ev.er to finish- but the sponge itself will get messy and colors will bleed quickly.
