So, Penny said her ear hurt.
So I took her to the dr.
The dr looked in her ear and went, "WOAH. I have never seen an abscess like that before." The dr called in the other dr. They looked together. They showed the medical assistants.
They prescribed antibiotics, to no avail. I could still see the abscess. P still said it didn't hurt, but it was still there.
So back to the dr. Dr looks again, says, "hmmm, I think it's gotten bigger. This is out of my field, that probably needs to be removed let me refer you to an ent."
So, we go. At this point I am stressed. Ear thing removal surgery sounds no fun.
So, the ENT looks in her ear. "Woah he says, how long has that been there?"
2 weeks I answer. He looks again. He says hmmm. He says, " I think that's a bead." I say, "No way nice doctor. No way. It got bigger."
He pokes at it. It's a bead.
A pink bead.
In her ear.
Now, in my pocket.
Fin.
Re: Penny's ear, a cautionary tale. PIPs added.
Dude.
I am between laughing and saying WTF? Why did her PCP not catch that it was a bead?
*facepalm*
Is she ok now? How did they get it out?
I'm so glad this did not require surgery. Lmao.
This is a wonderful solution. Ear abcess that don't clear and get bigger are bad news. Beads? Beads are wonderful news.
Thank G-d!
She is fine, and can hear now.
He said he could schedule an OR and put her under to pull it out, or I could hold her tight and he could do it quick in the next room. I opted for the second. He also took her old tube out of her other ear, so she should be able to hear a ton better now.
Duuuuuude
I would demand a refund for all medical costs associated with the initial doctor.

Oh my God! I remember you posting about this a while ago with a PIP! I'm laughing SO hard right now. I'm glad everything worked out!

I'm sorry, I shouldn't laugh, but this is hilarious.

WTFFFFFFf????
I really can't blame the pedi, it looked bad, and she was being cautious, because she said she really couldn't tell.
Penny says she doesn't remember putting it in there, and it was over two weeks ago, so that's possible.
I am laughing and relieved! That thing looked scary before I knew what it was.
I gotta see that pic again. I was scared for her then.
please post the picture again!
I love happy endings.....
no. the picture of it in her ear.
ETA: never mind.
lol. Yay for no ear goiter!
It DOES look really scary inside her ear. I'm so glad everything turned out OK.
I had a bad ear ache as a kid, and went to the ER and it was a popcorn kernel. POPCORN.
So, I can sympathize.
I am howling laughing here. And I am SO glad her ear is fine and this was all just a bead. lol
Cracks me up that only the specialist could diagnose the bead in the ear. lol
LOL!
I can say this now that she is okay, but at the time, I kept looking at that picture thinking there was something amiss.
I don't know if it was the way the flash shone on it or what, but I must've opened that post 10 times that night.
Hooray for awesome stories!
