**SpitForSpat**

Since I'm subscribed to your blog, I ended up reading your post from today at work. And I was cringing- CRINGING- at your adolescent journaling because it just hits way too close to home.

Then my boss came out and asked what was wrong with my face.

So. Thanks!?

Re: **SpitForSpat**

  • Haha - its terrible, right?!? The worst part is those were the LEAST embarrassing ones.
  • I seriously hope I've destroyed any written evidence that I was ever ages 11-17.
  • I have 4 of them. Filled. One has a precious moments cover. Another is sunflowers. In one entry I go on and on about a boy I like and how he likes the band Garbage so now I do, too. And I actually wrote my name with boys' last names. GAG.

The journals are the only artifact from my past I haven't fully shared with my H. They are just TOO mortifying.

Trust me, I did NOT ask cbwm for the last name of the coworker she wants to set me up with so I could do this exact same thing. Yesterday. When I was 28.

And  trust me,  we did not spend 15 minutes discussing how his last name would sound with Dr. and her first name but then she said that she's keeping her maiden name an it was a moot point but that if she were to take his name she would sound like a TV character.

    Nope. Didn't happen.

    I like privacy. A lot.

Lol. It is important stuff! This is probably flameful, but I said I kept my own last name b/c I'm my own person, and it's my NAME, and women's lib. But, I think I really just don't like H's last name. Secretly I want to order cutesy return address labels, but he effed it up.

I actually tried pretty hard to get him to agree to a mash-up of our last names, but it was no-go.

    I'm a rambler tonight.

I took DH's name because my name is Brooke and my maiden name started with a hard K and I was sick of saying it. Except now my initials aren't that great, but whatever.

  • My last name is basically a disaster. But it's memorable. If you've seen it once, you remember that you've seen it.  Which has been coming in really handy in a professional setting.
  • This pub near me used to have a teen angst poetry night where you could read your journals and poems. It was so awesome, the best combination of cringy gigglesnorts and woe is me drunkenness.

Spit, I hope you never get a jobs and you get all kinds of sponsors and dedicate your book to us.

I tried to convince H to mish mash our names because my maiden named sucks and H's last name is also really quite less than awesome.

But even though I had the perfect name all picked out using a really awesome combination of both of our last names, he was crazy and didn't go for it.

So I took his because at least I can be funny when I have to spell it instead of having to spell it 91 times to make sure someone spells it right.
