I dropped my iPhone and cracked the screen all up

That sucks.  Do they even replace screens on iPhones or is this one of those "you're SOL, time to buy a new phone" things?  Bummer.

    The screen can be replaced.

  • I believe they do, since they are glass.  I think my neighbors had it replaced once.

Oooh, this is good news.  I'm so happy!   I am kicking myself for not buying the stupid insurance with the phone, though.

  • we have places in our mall that repai the sreens

  • My old screen cracked but we were able to get it repaired.
  • Dh has cracked the screen in two phones. The iphone 3 was $50 to replace, the iphone 4 was $200. And that wasn't through Apple, that was just a local company that fixes electronics. Dh told me Apple is more.

  • They'll repair it, but it's a $100ish fix. Or maybe it's $150ish-it was something that whatever it was, I just sucked it up and lived with it as best I could (the DH taped it up, super sketchy-like - ha!) until the newest model came out and I just bought a new one.
  • How long have you had the phone? Go to the apple store and see what they will do for you. Normally if it is within a year, they will hand you a new one. Or they may charge you 150 for a new one, but it isn't bad. I broke two 4s. The first time they gave me a new one. The second one they wanted 150 for, so I upgraded to the 4s for 200. Oh, and get a otterbox.

It's the 4S - I've had it since whenever they came out.  October?  I like this answer best of all. New phone!   I'm going to the Apple store this weekend.

And, um, I do have an Otterbox.  Crying

Apparently it was quite a violent drop it suffered.

  • I have heard that you can buy a kit and follow online directions to replace it.  Or you can go to a local place and they will charge about $100.  You have to get the insurance within 30 days and go to a store so they can inspect it.  It was cheaper to do that than go through verizon.  I have a kid who steals my phone to get online way too often to go without insurance.

  • No on the Ortterbox! It is not approved by apple because it insulates it and kills the battery. It is also one of the heaviest cases and will make your phone hit a lot harder when dropped.

Apple suggests the candyshell by speck. I also have an iVisor reusable cleanable screen. The life proof case is also good (and light) but hasn't been fully tested by apple yet.

Get a Lifeproof case! They're pricey but they are sooooo much better than the otterbox (I've had both).
