DS's birthday is in a few weeks and I need to get the ball rolling - I work better under pressure if I start early enough.
We have a 1,000 sqft TH, and there is a common area lawn right outside of our door - some walk their dogs, some kids just hang in the law or play ball, its a really nice area.
Can we entertain guests for a lunch comfortably? We have two party tables that I plan to put together inside, so that will fit 10 people. In addition we have a large sectional which could fit six...so we may need some extra chairs for seating, but I was thinking of having a casual style eating/drinking/chatting...buffet style lunch.
Also as an extra activity for the kids/adults, I was thinking of having a relay race in the lawn...or even a water balloon relay race (if its good weather day).
There will be 4 kids including DS. The party is mostly adults.
Food: Pizza, Garlic Rolls & Salad Catered & Delivered.
Drinks: Chocolate Milk, Apple Juice & Water for the Kids; Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite, Water & Beer for the Adults.
Cake: Planning to Order
Music: Family Friendly Popular Music
Presents: Opened after guests leave.
Activities: Relay Race/Balloon Race (or) Rainy Day: Edible Paint Cookies
Is this party doable in a 1,000 sqft TH with 20 people?
Re: Please Critique my Idea. Doable?
These are people that knnow and love you. They will be fine sitting on a couch eating pizza. My only comments are from a parent side- please offer white milk or no milk. I'd also not go for a water balloon race unless the parents know there could be a water activity.
I don't think the milk is a big deal at all.
As for presents, I would open while everyone is there.
How big is your living room? My open LR/DR is about 20' x 28' and I can barely fit 20. 15's better. If you do split it half and half, that should be plenty of space.
If the weather's bad, I think it might get uncomfortable with children underfoot.
I agree on white milk and I would also tell the parents if there are going to be water activities.
