Kitty Litter Recs

I need some recommendations on kitty litter. More importantly kitty litter that does an amazing job of masking the smell of...well, kitty litter.

We just moved into a new apartment and the litter box is now in a more public place than it used to be. Its in our master bathroom so its not like other people have to deal with it but we are definitely noticing the smell of kitty litter more than ever before {used to be in a laundry room away from everyone}. Even with a freshly cleaned litter box and fresh litter we can smell the litter itself so we'd like to experiment with some other types of litter but don't want to go running blind.

  • I like Arm and Hammer.

  • I like Arm and Hammer, too. I can't even smell it while I'm scooping the litter.
  • Another vote for arm & hammer

  • We use World's Best. DH doesn't even mind cleaning the litter box anymore!
  • Prior to S having litter box issues, we loved Arm & Hammer.  Now we use Dr. Elsey's multi cat litter.

  • I would make all litter changes gradual. Not every cat will respond well to a sudden change. Also realize what may ssmell good to you may be awful for your cats more sensitive nose. Scoop at least twice a day, wash box every couple weeks, replace box yearly (bacteria gets trapped in scratches). A little bit of soda will neutralize odors.

  • We use Yesterday's News (I think that's the brand). It's made of recycled paper pellets. We buy it from Walmart. As long as you clean the box every day or two, the smell isn't bad. Also, we like it 'cause it doesn't track around the house as badly as normal litter. If the smell still bothers you, you can always use baking soda or litter box deoderizers  (usually near the litter).
  • I'm new here and i have a new kitty! (2 weeks! happy happy joy joy!) I bought some litter at Petco but i have a feeling its more expensive than other places like walmart? (I need to check).

He seems to like it (its the petco brand) and its not very smelly but I clean it every day.

  • We use World's Best. We also keep our litter box in our bathroom. We love World's Best because it's flushable, so every time I go in the bathroom I scoop. That keeps the used litter box smell down. I can't smell the actual litter itself at all.
  • We use Arm and Hammer multi cat formula. We have three cats and I've had people come over on the regular and say "I thought you had cats?" without me even asking them if they could smell anything. Which is good, because I am super paranoid that the house smells like pets and we just can't tell because we're used to it.
