We thought we were done with crate buying, but I guess we were a little premature in getting Maxx his big boy crate last year. The other day I looked at him and realized he was a wee bit taller than the crate and can't really get a good stretch in where his head is concerned. The dog walker noticed it too and suggested we get him a bigger crate. His current crate is 30"X21"24
That said, the next size up will be a lot longer and anywhere from three inches higher to six inches higher. I'm not so much worried about the height, but the length, though I guess we can put a divider in it to make it the right length for him.
Maxx is housebroken, so I don't really think it's an issue of him going in the crate, but just thought I'd ask in case I was missing something.
Re: Any disadvantages to having a too-big crate for adult dog?
If he's housebroken, I don't think it would be a problem. Maybe get one with a divider and try it without for a bit. If he keeps it clean, no need to put the divider in. But at least you'd have the option if you need it.
Thanks ladies.
I really think he's able to be out for at least half the day, either before or after the dog walker, but DH isn't convinced just yet.
