I posted a few days ago about how much trouble we were having deciding on floor tile. We were pretty set on 6x8" white 'subway tile' (is it really subway tile if it's not 3x6"?) for the shower surround, but I just could not find anything that looked like it went with it for the floor. Everything looked a little random and nothing really spoke to me.
We finally went to yet another store and fell in love with some of the accent tiles that they had - so we chose accent tile that naturally coordinated with a floor tile - and like magic the whole look is tied together!
I love love love love love love the accent tile. I *like* glass mosaic accent tile, but not inspired by anything I was seeing. I am head over heals in love with this one that blends stone and glass and porcelain to achieve more texture.
Here is what we chose! Sorry for the terrible cell-phone quality photo. Obviously the white balance is all jacked up, since that top tile is actually white and is what we are using for the shower. The gray is going on the floor, and the mosaic is going to be done in a band around the shower surround. Im really excited to see it installed this weekend!
DH also wants to put this pretty crown molding tile around the top, but I'm not sold on it since it'll add like $260 to the cost of the tile. But he loves it, what do you guys think? Is it worth it to spend the extra to put it in? Are we going to regret not doing it in 6 months after the money hemorrhage involved in moving/renovating is over and $260 isn't such a big deal?

Oooh nice. What colors are you using for the backsplash? All this tile hunting has us thinking about our future kitchen reno too. I love how all of those gorgeous backsplashes look in everyone's kitchens I've seen - but I think I'm going to waffle for ages when I have to pick my own.
Loooooove it! I would pay for that molding top, but I'm sure it would look great either way. We don't have the molding but have similar tiling. I didn't even know it was an option!
Yes, get the crown moulding! That part always costs more than we would think but it finishes the look and after all the time and money spent, you might as well do it right!
love the glass tiles!
