Any way to make this not tacky?

T's birthday is on Thursday. My family lives 100 miles away.

One of my most favorite cousins graduates on Friday night.

DH's bff's bachelor party is on Saturday night.

Cousin's graduation party is on Sunday.

Memorial day is on Monday.

Is there a non-tacky way to have cake and ice cream for my family before or after the graduation party? My parents live about a mile from cousin's house.

Or should I just suck it up and have a Monday party?

For the record, I'd be all for having a small supper on Thursday night to celebrate, but my parents would be butthurt about the idea of missing their only grandchild's birthday party.

  • We always are throwing birthday cakes in if we are all together celebrating graduations, baptisms, ect.

I would not even think twice about it.

This. We just visited family and had a turkey dinner and birthday cake to cover Xmas and Easter and G's bday.

  • Having it on another weekend means her family has to drive another four hours round trip again.

    yes?

Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
  • Having it the next weekend means we compete with the graduation at MIL's school (she's a teacher), and I have to give up my last unscheduled weekend until September to spend it with my family (because undoubtedly, they will want to stay the entire weekend). So, for mostly selfish reasons, I'd rather not change it. Yes, I'm being difficult.

  • I agree with Peachy, throw it in there.
