Re: Ask me anything? I'm bored and having some wine...
what's your first nest memory?
eta: and how are bailey and emma adjusting?
How are you enjoying parenthood so far?
What kind of wine are you drinking? I'm about to crack into some Chard
*clink*
What kind of wine?
Did you see my PM?
I will do one baby related and one not baby related
(1) What's your favorite thing about being a mom so far?
(2) If you could realistically live anywhere besides Florida where would you live and why?
I have to poop so bad, but can't. It hurts to walk from my c-section scar area down.
WHAT DO I DO?
Did you get the rock and play?
Daycare is SO exhausting!
Blog
Coffee. It always works for me.
Otherwise, eat a fistful of dried apricots and go for a jog.
um... mostly I am on edge most of the time, and if I get one beat off in our little dance of feeding, pumping, diaper change, me eating, etc., it all goes to hell. I do love holding her and just watching her sleep and all her little facial expressions, but dude, it's stressful. I think H wonders why I don't do more around the house while he's at work.
Yea, I was going to say coffee too. I recently started drinking coffee and it has changed my life as far as pooping goes.
is there a parenting/baby thing that you thought you'd do/not do pre-Joanna that you've now abandoned/embraced?
what's your favorite card game to play? what about board game?
yeah, and it doesn't take much! lol. No, I'm not getting hammered, but I have a nice buzz and H has said I can sleep until 7 am and he'll take care of Joanna during the night.
Best: a sex dream, a good pedi appointment, and this glass of wine. lol
worst: crying at night and my little daytime meltdown the other day.
OH - another question...because you opened the door and i'm a nerd.
if you every moved to DC and started working in food & drug law, and hypothetically worked for the fda, would you be more stringent on food labeling regulations? what are your thoughts on the front of pack nutrition icons that they're pushing?
awww tambo - the first month is pretty rough, so cut yourself some slack. i see you feeeling stressed and want you to know that it is totally normal. my H went back to work around 4 weeks. i would have DIED if he left me alone before then, so i think you are doing great handling everything while you are alone.
having said that, the fist 3 months are the best b/c the baby sleep most of the time. so try to enjoy it, lol. maybe it's different for you though b/c you aren't off for a year, but i found the second half of the year a b!tch b/c he was awake and i spent many months trying to establish a nap routine so i could have some me time. ha ha
also - GO OUT. seriously. you are blessed to have a baby outside of flu season. taking her to target or to the mall for an hour to walk around and do whatever is a great break in the day. thre will be no harm done.
Thanks.
Yeah, fortunately my mom will be dealing with her when she gets out of the sleepy newborn phase. lol
I'll probably have to take her out soon because sh!t needs to get done. At least I can go during the day when the stores aren't too crowded. I just worry!
don't worry. really. i know i am overly breezy sometimes about stuff, but i promise you that it is fine. no one will be touching her, store will be empty and it will help you build up your comfort level.
zombie hugs!
Okay, this is the first I've thought about the front of pack icons because I've kind of stopped following FDA stuff except for whatever is featured on the health segment of the nightly news. lol. But they seem redundant. I get that they are supposed to make the information easier to get at a glance, but it seems gimmicky - like hey, look what we are doing here! I would like for people to become more educated about the ingredients themselves and learn how to make healthy choices that way rather than relying on grams and RDAs, but maybe that is expecting too much of the general public.
How does the cereal company feel about them?
Also.. I used to think working for the FDA was my ultimate dream job, but now I think I'd eventually want to work in-house for a corporation. Does that mean I'm getting old? lol
Don't ask me intellectual question while I'm drinking!
wanna work in-house for a corp? my fav lawyer just left and i need someone to fill the void!! i could bug you 6 times a week about labeling regs and tradedress!! st. louis could be niiiice!!
my personal issues with the FOP icons is that the whole thing stems from a couple of people deciding that the general public was too dumb to read the nutrition facts panel. which, they kind of are, but anyway...like you said, basically, i don't think the icons really tell the consumer that much, so i pretty much think they're useless and get in the way of my package design.
and generally, the program isn't regulated, so there's not requirement for any manufacturer to follow the program. that goes double for private label, which is what i do. so i can tell you that the brands are dragging their feet about complying (GM and K just started rolling out packaging with the keys. the other two are doing bastardized versions) and private label is 50-50. the 50 that aren't on the bandwagon yet are also doing their own bastardized version. which makes me think the whole thing is pointless. because if the keys aren't the same on all packaging throughout the store, then why bother?
sorry if i'm rambly - i've got wine too! whheeeee!
