Recommend your outdoor furniture

Ideally I'd love to be able to sit a lot of people (10-12) and I don't know of many places to buy sets that big.  Maybe the amish sell big sets?

Do you prefer wood, iron or composite material?  Any advice would be much appreciated since I'm just starting my search.

TIA!

Re: Recommend your outdoor furniture

  • I'm so curious about this as well. I'm looking for a smallish set, maybe a love seat and a rocker, but I would love something that has a modern aesthetic.

I found this collection at DWR, but SO does not find it all that comfy... : (  I really love the way it looks.

  • Where I live, it's very windy, so I bought a metal set with tempered glass, I don't want it flying off in the wind. But mine is only a 4 person set, I think if you are going with something big enough for 10-12 people it most likely won't budge either way. I would try Home Depot and Lowe's.
  • Costco online. It's not the cheapest nor the most expensive, but the quality is excellent & they have a nice variety of styles/sizes. We upgraded from a Walmart set a few years ago and couldn't be happier.
  • Are you talking about a table and chairs?

I don't know that I have ever seen actual sets that large...just custom built tables with purchased chairs.

I think that I would consider buying/making two matching rectangular tables with chairs and/or benches, so that they could be used together or separately, depending on the size of the group or the particular situation.  For smaller groups one table could be used as a buffet table, or for a larger group there could be a grown up table and a kids table....or just one big table.
