Help! We bought a house and are renovating it but getting ready to move. I do not want to move a bunch of clutter.
Trying
to organize and PURGE some of our clutter in prep for a move. We have
more clothes than any 3 people need. Any advice on how much we really
need to keep?

Re: xp: clothes and closets?
I would go through and donate everything that doesn't fit or you haven't worn in X amount of time. If I don't wear something for a year then I donate or sell it. If you've got some time before you move then you can try hanging things up with the hanger facing backwards. If you wear them then turn the hanger back around so it's facing forward before you hang them back up. That way it's easy to see if you really wear them. Anything on a backwards hanger can be donated.
I generally make 4 piles when I sort through stuff - keep, donate, sell, and store. Anything I'm not sure about I store for a little while. If I can see that I haven't used it or wanted it then it makes it so much easier to donate or sell stuff.
Of course there's some stuff that I don't use often but don't want to get rid of because I use it occasionally. For that stuff I just plan on storing it somewhere that's hidden because it doesn't have to be easy to access. Ex: I used to store fancy serving stuff I only used for holidays up in an attic crawl space.
This is always what they recommend in the magazines and on tv shows.
