I just wanted to share a bit of my story, especially as this is the 'sex' board, as I know alot of women may have a similar issue but embarrassed/ashamed to talk about it.
I had a condition called Vaginismus- which is the inability to have sex or extremely painful intercourse. My husband and I waited to have sex until we got married. We were both super excited to have sex, and on our wedding night and several months later we were physically unable to consummate our marriage due to this awful condition. We sought treatment and we made some progress but sex was still incredibly painful. It really made me feel awful as wife, and was especially concerning as we wanted to have kids. My husband was wonderful through it all, though. It wasn't until last year that we went to a two week treatment center in new york and we were FINALLY cured!
I just wanted to share to let you know that you are not alone! If you want to read more about vaginismus or my story in particular click on the blog link below in my siggy.
Re: Intro and Vaginismus.
Thanks for sharing your story. My own has been so emotional for me. I not only have vaginismus, but I also had an extremely thick hymen that wouldn't break and made everything even worse. That was the first problem my OB/GYN noted, and recommended that I have it surgically removed. So I did-- and that helped a lot, but not enough. When I went for my post-op appointment, it was still impossilbe for her to examine me properly and recommended that I order dilators. I'm still working with them and making progress, but not as much as I would like to be. I've been married for nearly 11 months, had my surgery the second week of May and have been using the dilators nearly daily since mid-June. It's so frustrating to wait and I feel awful as a wife, too, especially now that it's August, which is when we had wanted to start trying for kids.
What sort of treatment did you go through to be cured?
