I had my 8k, and it was 40? and raining as predicted.
The worst part was waiting to get to the start - there were 20k people, so it took us literally 45 mins to get there after we lined up. I was seriously numb for the entire first mile.
Aside from that, it was fantastic. I was with a friend who isn't much of a runner and she wanted to stick together, so I was probably 3-4 minutes slower than I would have been on my own, but she did a great job keeping up and we had a ton of fun. It was way more fun to run with her than to get a better time.
I've also decided that between 40?-50? is ideal racing weather, even though it's unpleasant at the start.
Re: Froze my ass off today.
Yes i agree!!! I lvoe running in cooler weather. I am dreading the hot days ahead. THats why i started running super early to beat the heat........
i also enjoy running in the rain, but its usually nicer when the rain starts after a few miles in
Yeah, I hardly noticed the rain once we were running, but standing in it would not have been my first choice.
I'm glad my friend's husband dropped us off, because if we had had the car with us it would have been mighty tempting to bail just to get warm.
