BBoS is called Avelle now I think but I'm sure ya'll know what I'm talking about. The handbag rental website basically. Anyway I am a member and as far as I know you can get free handbag cleaning service for bags that you already own, and I was wondering if anyone on here has ever used it and what you thought. I am nervous about sending my bags off to get cleaned and not knowing what might happen to them. I'm afraid they might get lost or something. Its supposed to be really good and it says on the website that they clean and restore the bags to look brand new, and I want to trust that but... I'm still kinda nervous about it.
I have a gorgeous Coach bag that I let a friend borrow, and when it gave it back it was totally trashed. She spilled something sticky inside it and the lining is stained and the white leather got scuffed up on the bottom. I also have another Coach wristlet that needs a little TLC from just being handled. The oil on my hands have made the fabric a little dingy after owning it for a couple of years. Both of those bags were gifts from a family member I love dearly, and I would be devastated if something happened to them.
Would you send them off to get cleaned, since the service is free, or would you feel more comfortable with a different method?
How do you get your handbags clean?

Ditto pp- If you are seriously nervous about the bags getting lost and are very attached to them- I would try and find a local place to have them cleaned, even if it costs some money.
Have you tried going to a coach store? I have two handbags from Nordstrom and I know they will send bags away to be cleaned (but it takes about 6 weeks to get back) - but not sure if they will if the bag was not purchased from them.
Another option would be to call Coach customer service and see if they have any recs on where to have the bags cleaned by someone reputable. They might even offer to have the bags cleaned for free, you never know.
btw- I think its pretty maddening/crappy that your friend borrowed your bag, spilled something sticky on it and trashed it and didn't have it cleaned before she gave it back or at least offered to pay for it to be cleaned or even replaced if need be. That's super rude. I would stop loaning anything to her in the future.
