Trail Half was frantastic yesterday-despite the lack of hills in my training, and being sick this past week! We were doing great until we hit the hill at mile 11.5ish! Holy crap, that thing is a monster! I actually walked at 2 points on that beast, which is a first for me-I've never walked in a race before.
We started with the 9:20ish group, though we couldn't really tell what the announcer was saying. The whole thing was just a new experience for me-being stuck single file for long stretches, the ups and downs, twists and turns, drops and jumps, and the comradderie! So much fun!
I had originally thought I would try to sign up for the full at run Woodstock, but am just not ready to commit to training (or run 2 loops of that course). I really like the half distance as its not as consuming to train for while working full time with 2 young kids at home! So, I'll be signing up for the half later this week, with the goal of breaking 2:00!
Re: Daisy
I am glad you enjoyed it! That hill at about the 11.5 mile mark is insane, isn't it? Just when you think you've reached the top, it climbs again!! Crazy!
Gooc luck on on reaching your goal!! I've been trying to break 2 hours at the trail half and have come close (2:01). Maybe next year!
