New to gardening and need some help!! total newb!
So summer is coming and we have tons of planters to fill! I have a lot of old turkey feeders that are about a foot wide and 4-5 feet long. Im not sure what can grow in there or if its enough space to grow some veggies? Im very new at this and have never grown anything other than flowers. Im looking for some easy to maintain veggies and I also live in the blazzin hot desert but have a shaded patio I can protect stuff under. Any advice on something that would be good for a beginer? Also can I use the soil from last year or should I buy new and what brand is good ? Thank you in advance !!

How deep are the containers? I do container gardening and have been able to successfully grow squash and cucumbers in nearly anything. Cucs do well with a trellis or something they can climb, but otherwise, super easy.
If you have some depth, tomatoes are also really easy and rewarding.
I usually do:
Zucchini: yellow, green, Mexican Grey
Heirloom Tomatoes
Lemon Cucumbers
Herbs: Basil, Cilantro, Chives
This year I added a hot pepper and strawberries.
The depth is about maybe 8 inches ? Im thinking herbs will do good in there? I also have 2 big potters that would do tomatoes and maybe peppers or strawberries. Thank you for your recommendations, it makes so much more sense to grow herbs than to buy them at the store every week
