How did your wisdom teeth go? Were you able to run this weekend? I hope you're feeling great and are back into the swing of things already.

I'm having mine pulled this week, and I'm anxious to get an idea of how long I can expect to be a couch potato.

Re: ***Steph81***

  • Thanks so much for asking!  It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  I had it done Thursday afternoon and spent the rest of the day on the couch.  Friday I reacted badly to the percocets and was sick a little in the morning so it was another pretty lazy day in bed.

But I went out for a 12 miler early Saturday morning and besides being a little swollen on one side, it was fine! I still think one side of my face looks a little puffy, but I feel pretty much recovered.  Everyone's stories of their experiences made me nervous, but I guess it just depends.  Good luck with yours! How many are getting pulled?  I had only my top 2 taken out.

  • Sounds like you had a great experience; I'm so glad to hear it. Did they put you under?

I'm having all 4, only one is surgical though. I am going to be under conscious sedation... I have zero experience with anesthesia, so I'm pretty nervous. But, I'm most nervous to not be able to get back to training right away.

    Your experience is very encouraging!

  • I think conscious sedation is what I had too.  A few shots to the gum and a gas mask, but I wasn't fully under.  The doc said that was better for healing because he can tell you to open or close or move to the side or whatever so you won't be as beat up as you would be if he were probing around on his own.

My surgeon told me I would be fine to start working out two days later, so you can always double check before hand to make sure and ease your mind.  I'm sure it'll be fine!
