Define "significantly better" :(

So, I was running a 5K last Thursday and felt a sharp pain/pop/snap in my left hip. The pain was pretty bad and almost immediately I had very limited range of motion in my left leg. I went to the Ortho and they did xrays that were negative and he gave me Naproxen and Vicodin and told me to rest and call if I didn't have significant improvement by Monday and they would send me for an MRI. Well, the Naproxen is helping because whatever swelling was going on has gone down a lot and I have most of the range of motion back in my leg, but the pain in my hip is still there and quite frankly, it's exhausting to walk any further than a few feet. Because the range of motion is back and its just the pain, I don't know if I should call the doctor or wait it out a few days. WWYD?

FWIW: the preliminary diagnosis is sprain/strain and bursitis.
