Special shoutout to MarywithoutSound for helping last night. I think she's pointed me somewhat in the right direction!
Okay, so the first major issue is that my DH is WAY too invested in this. Like, he's super ridiculously picky and it's *killing* me.
First thing to know - our bedroom is pretty tiny, and we have a queen sized bed. My ultimate goal is to do some kind of gray/blue/green combo.
We have a black dresser and night stands. No headboard as of right now, but I'm entertaining the idea of making something. My dad is a carpenter and can build anything we want - so either something somewhat structural or even upholstered.
Anyway - this is the only picture I could find of our furniture. It looks brown, but it's black. The dresser is a similar shape.
I inherited these vases from my great aunt. They're from the 30s or 40s and I'm in love with them. So I kind of want to use these as a starting point (don't mind all the sh!t in the one - I didn't realize it was there until after I snapped the pic. lol)
SO.
DH wants to go with a gray duvet/quilt/coverlet.
This is what he's agreed on thus far. It's not bad. It's also not great.

I'm TRYING to convince him to go with this (thanks for finding it, Mw/oS!):

However, I'm not totally set on the bedding. DH has it in his mind that we should paint the room a sea glass green (I'm okay with this idea), but I need some pillows and/or awesome sheets to tie all of this in together and I'm having a really hard time seeing and end product.
HALP!
Re: Want to help me redo our master bedroom? (long)
I worry with that dark grey color your room is going to look even tinier. How about something with different shades of grey and white like this?
Grey Duvet Set
I love those vases and think they add a great pop of color. How about painting the walls a sand color to keep it beach themed? Something like this?
Sand Color
I love the vases and the gray!
I think I would go with a lighter grey and a print, just to add some zip to things.
I actually like the Target bedding better. I would probably paint the walls blue if I were going with a color and then use green in the accents. Like maybe a really light blue-gray. But I suck at decorating, so take that with a grain of salt.
eta: I like the idea of the sand color too. I almost suggested something like that.
Okay, so I should have included this in my OP.
Our walls are blue right now, and we're sick of them, which is why I think we're leaning towards green.
And a majority of our house is a tan/darker sand color, so we want to avoid doing another room in that same color family.
LOL. The bedding from Target is what DH picked out. I don't totally hate it, but it's not my favorite.
If I got my way, I'd go with something from Anthropologie, but he hated ALL of it.
ummm...you're an old soul?
We have this bedding set and I love it!!! We also have the coverlet and it is similar to what you linked from Target, but has a much nicer pattern...

I prefer duvets to quilts/coverlets in terms of sleeping comfort, so of those two, I'd pick the one from West Elm.
Just to give you an idea of what it looks like, we have this bedding which seems to be what you might be going for, with the neutral bedding and blue-ish accents, except the base color is taupe:
I had also considered this bedding from Restoration Hardware in the fog color, which I think would look nice with blue accent pillows to coordinate with the vases but maybe in a more subtle hue.
I give up, you guys.
Everything I send to DH, he hates.
So, I told him EFF IT! We're not redecorating!
I found a quilt from Martha Stewart that I am in love with. He hates it beyond belief. LOL.
Done, done, done.
