Shocking Revelation ABout Eggs...
I know you are all enthralled with what I am about to reveal.
How to boil an egg the easy way
Pre heat oven to 325F
Place eggs in muffin tray
Cook 25 minutes
Walla. Perfect hard boiled eggs.
Why did I not know this before?
Once upon a time, boy met girl...
Re: Shocking Revelation ABout Eggs...
I HATE BOILING EGGS. I LOVE HARD BOILED EGGS.
and way less energy for one burner vs. heating up an oven right?
i think my oven must run hot b/c i have even cut the time down to 20 minutes and i will still have an small outer rim of green. i'm going to try 15 minutes next time.
and the muffin tin is a good idea. i was just placing them on the rack, but that would leave little brown marks on the white of the egg. nbd when they're for me, but if i want to make a bunch of deviled eggs i don't want them to have brown spots.
eta: and for pp, i prefer the oven over boiling b/c on sunday night i boil a dozen eggs for the week. it's a lot easier to do 12 eggs in the oven rather than a big boiler.
It takes the same amount of time for me to boil the water and then add eggs, if not more. Less clean up this way too.
Amazing what you can learn from Pinterest.
Okay now I guess see, I only do like 5 eggs at the most at a time so for me, on the stove it's like 10 minutes and crazy easy.
Yeah, I learned this from pinterest a while ago. That's how we did our Easter eggs. I hear they're delicious, but we never ate any of them. Just stuck them in a muffin tin, baked them, dyed and hid them! But it was very easy. They get a little discolored in the oven, but most of the discoloration washes off. Not that it really matters as long as you aren't planning on using them for decoration!

I can see doing this if you want to boil a shiitton of eggs but I generally max out at 10 so boiling is easier for me.
alzi? You need a new stove, honey. 45 minutes to boil water?
/thefcuck?
Also pseudo - if your water is boiling before you add your eggs, you're doing it wrong.
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
So, when I'm through cooking supper, I can just throw them in the oven?
Are they easy to peel? Will it discolor my muffin tins?
These are the things I need to know!
yeah, this is what I want to know too!
Ruh roh, have I been screwing up my boiled eggs all these years?
This is a Heath.
Yes, it's supposed to be better for a larger quantity of eggs, say a dozen or more. And they act like regular hard boiled eggs when they're done. They don't peel any easier (Alton Brown says fresher eggs are harder to peel. Best to use those that have been in the fridge a few days) or harder.
Here's a link to the 'recipe' that I use from Alton Brown.
Put eggs in pan.
Fill pan with cold water just to cover eggs.
Cover pan and bring to rolling boil.
Without removing lid, remove pan from heat and let sit for 12 minutes.
Plunge eggs into ice bath for about 15 minutes. Refrigerate in chilled bowl.
I have used this method for years, it prevents greeny yolks and they are generally easier to peel. Although there is no way to wrongly boil an egg, I guess. I can't do Nigel's eggs properly for soft-boiled, I always overcook them.
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
this is my method too. Works well!
Easiest way of all.
