I am now in the phase "I can't believe I was ever married to that guy".

Our house has been on the market since last September. Lots of visits, people love the house but no offer.

Last week, a dead tree fell in the backyard. I let XH know so we can do something about it ASAP. He agreed to come last Sunday (yesterday) to take care of it. 2 hours before he is supposed to show up he says he can't come anymore. Not surprising coming from him.

This morning the realtor calls me saying he dropped the price by 10K and I need to come sign the forms. I am sure the realtor was pleased to learn that she is now going to make peanuts in commission, if we ever sell the house (he has the option to let it go into foreclosure if he is fed up with it).

Ahhh, I remember 7 years ago when we had a fight about buying a house. I was against it, he absolutely needed to buy a house and I was the mean wife raining on his parade...

  • I'm sorry you're going through this!  Did he ever give a reason as to why he couldn't take care of the dead tree?  Did your Realtor drop the price for that reason?

  • It's funny how hindsight is 20/20 isn't it? I used to have the moments quite often.

No, no reason. But I suspect something more appealing came up like he was in the middle of playing a video game online or got invited for drinks. And he is the one who dropped the price. I guess the tree reminded him he is still responsible for taking care of the house.

ETA: I forgot to mention that when I told him there was a dead tree on the ground in our backyard, he asked me if it was really on our property.

  • I think I'll be in that phase the rest of my life. I definitely had a different mindset when I made the decision to marry my XH. So glad I'm not there anymore.
It's just me and my Marlon now... and I LOVE it that way!
