What beach/hotel/resort would you recommend spending Memorial Day Weekend at? We're looking for something family friendly and preferably within an hour of Camp Johnson.

I cant recommend a specific hotel but try to stay on Topsail Beach or Emerald Isle. Those beaches are both beautiful- I think Topsail might be a little less crowded but there may be more to do in Emerald Isle... So good luck and have fun!

TOPSAIL.  It is awesome, we go there every year.  AWESOME.  We always get a house on the beach though because it's an enormous family affair.

If you are military you can stay at the beach houses on base. They are very nice and EXTREMELY affordable. If not, Emerald Isle and Topsail are both pretty too.

I would head down to Wilmington. That is where we always "escape" to.

If you do call Onslow Beach, don't be surprised if they are all booked since it's the long weekend.  Those cabins get booked up 3 months in advanced on long weekends and during the summer season.  I do enjoy my time at those cabins, just make sure you book a couple months in advanced for them.

Wrightsville Beach has some nice ones.  I haven't stayed at them, but I did do a day retreat at one.  Here is the link to their site.  They do offer a military discount or at least they did a year ago.  http://www.shellisland.com/  I liked them for the retreat.

We loved going to Topsail!  However, Wilmington is also beautiful, but probably more $$.
