Why lie about kids?

Where is the judgment in having/not having kids?

Re: Why lie about kids?

  • I actually have 4 kids and am pregnant with 7 more.

  • I don't really think that people were being honest with that poll.

  • My only guess is perhaps they have infertility issues and they want to live a pretend life that they might not otherwise have?

Seems like a lot of effort though. I feel sorry for them.

  • I agree with Karma, but if someone were to lie about it on here, maybe they did it once upon a time to "fit in" when there was a baby rush and/or people posting all about babies/pregnancies/etc and then, well, you kinda have to keep that particular ruse going. ;)

    congratulations!!!

    Lol

I don't think there is any rationalization that makes pretend kids understandable. Bit I think someone lied, and no one has fake kids.

  • So one's advice for someone with kids is valid? It still seems lame...
  • Ok as a non-mom, I don't want my view on this dishonesty to be misinterpreted as ME doing it. I'm not one of the kid liars. (Obvs. Unless I have a crazy AE who does have kids...? Hmmmm... :) )

ANYWAY, the only way that I can see people lying about it is because there ARE a lot of kid convos, and admittedly 'mom's' opinions are viewed by many as much more valuable than non-moms. So I'm taking it as people's crazy necessity to fit in. Sad but true.

  • i've never understood making a bunch of stuff up on here, and the smugness that accompanies it.  this is a place where you can say anything you like, provided that you create an SN, which requires only an email address.  everyone is who they represent themselves to be because there is no fact checking.  "tricking" people into thinking you have kids takes approximately 0 effort.  it's not like you sweet-talked your way into the e-ring of the pentagon or something.  save the smug sense of accomplishment for something else, jackhole.

    kiss it, nest.
  • sometimes I want to pretend I don't have any kids, and Im cool...but I doubt I could pull it off.
