arrggh I can't get her in the k'tan without squishing us!
How do you people make these wrap and sling things work??
Maybe I have the wrong size. I got my non-pg shirt size as instructed, but that didn't account for my giant breast feeding boobs.
Re: arrggh I can't get her in the k'tan without squishing us!
I think I'm pretty close to normal up top except for my boobs. I have a hot sling or something similar too, but I was nervous she'd slip out the bottom! lol. H also has a Baby Bjorn.. guess I'll use that.
Not that I'm ever going to manage to get out of the house today anyway, between eating, feeding her, pumping, changing poopy diapers, her peeing all over herself, etc. moooooo. I feel like I should bathe her after the peeing incident, but she got a bath yesterday, and I just can't deal with it by myself right now. I just tried to wipe her off, but it was on her onesie and now it's probably all over the back of her head. gross.
1. I baby wiped my kids in lieu of a bath at that age like...ALL THE TIME.
2. It takes a couple weeks to figure out the routine (mainly b/c your kiddo isn't in one) and I found it helps to not set too many expectations about going out at first...and make your destination a place where you can nurse/change diapers.
3. Just going for a walk around the block does wonders - more than you realize. And that is truly enough at this stage!
4. Do you have a travel system? Just throw her in the car seat and slap it on top of the stroller...I couldn't deal with baby carriers at that age b/c my kids felt too floppy and I was constantly worried they would suffocate in my boobs, lol.
Okay, I went to the vet and used the Bjorn and had the same thought you did - her head was resting in my boobs, and I was afraid they were going to smother her. lol. I should have just carried her in in the car seat but I was worried about all the techs fawning over her. I also had to go to CVS, but I ended up just going through the drive-thru to pick up my prescription, and I'll go get the other stuff when H gets home. I almost went back home for the stroller (the vet is really close to our house), but decided it would just be easier to go back out by myself later.
I'm going nuts today. I know when H gets home, he's going to wonder why I haven't even put the dishes in the dishwasher, but I have seriously barely been able to put her down. It's a lot of fun to hold her on my lap while I pump over her. lol. I hope H doesn't have any ideas about going running after work, b/c he's going to have to be on baby duty for awhile!
This is all 100% NORMAL. Every day will be different for the first 3 months or so...just allow yourself to go with the flow and soon you'll have the "new normal" figured out.
I hate hate HATED the floppy newborn stage. As in, in some ways I felt better when my mom was watching C because I felt like she was doing a better job than me. Crazy post partum hormones, I tell ya.
