Tile doorway transition

I have been questioning if we should install some type of mosaic as a transition between 2 different tiles (different color/shape) at a doorway, or just butt the 2 tiles together.  WDYT?

I found a mosaic that I would consider to place in between the tiles.  If we do put a mosaic, what would be a good width?  I was thinking 2" (about the same size as the thickness of the door).  Would this look too tiny or just right?  Thoughts?

Have you considered a marble threshold or something similar?  I like to install them where they're the width of the door frame (generally 4"), but the people who had the house before me install a bunch of 2" ones (door thickness).  They look ok, so I'm guessing a mosaic of the same width would be ok, too.

I highly prefer the tiles butted against each other.  However I realize sometimes the height of the two tiles may differ and there must be some type of transition.  But if one is not required, there is no way I'd add it.
