DH and I moved into our first home this weekend. What a blessing it is to own a house and make it a home. I feel so lucky right now. I hope all of your homes are filled with love and you all enjoy many years of happiness in them (renovating or not!). I certainly hope ours is too.
We've been together for over 16 years, married for 8 years this summer. We've got two kids and a lot of history. We had been grad students for a LONG long long (long) time. We watched all of our friends buy homes and decorate nurseries and do the whole thing. And we lived on grad student stipends and student loans all crammed into tiny apartments for what seemed like a lifetime. We always said that someday this would be behind us and we'd be able to enjoy the future we were building. And here it is. I am sure we wont continue to be blessed with perfect health and perfect happiness forever. Im sure that there will come a day when life throws some crazy curve balls at us. I hope we handle whatever is down the road with grace. But for right now, life is really really good. And we are so so lucky.
Back to your regularly scheduled D&R chit chat. I just wanted to throw out a little thanksgiving into the universe.
Now if the contractor could only finish our bathroom....

Congratulations!
I understand how you feel, our contractor starts tomorrow on renovations of our only bathroom, at least we are not moving into the house until the end of the month. Let's hope he has it finished by then.
