5 vials of blood people!! A blissfully talented draw though, I barely felt a thing and then she ragged on bad phlebotomists with me.
So anyway, they are checking my Vitamin D, and thyroid, and looking to see if I might have some bipolar action (high highs and low lows) going on and all kinds of stuff.
And I got the name of a therapist who hopefully takes Nigel's insurance. (I can't remember if his company also has BC/BS).
And also a podiatric surgeon - I am thinking about dealing with my bunion while I have some time off.
Anyway, it was a good appointment and I only got a little teary.
I have to go back on Friday for fasting bloodwork (cholesterol, etc.)
Re: I saw the doctor today (GP).
Bad phlebotomists suck!
Looks like you had a good day.
Bad phlebotomists SUCK! I go once a month and get 4-5 vials every time, so a good one is lovely.
Hope you feel better soon!
Sometimes? I feel all good and proud of myself when I take care of the list of "stupid health things I haven't had the time or interest in attending to" stuff. Like I'm more grown-up on that particular day or something.
*This post brought to you by the person who just made her first dentist appointment in two years today.
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
Hey, LTP, that's good news. Just wanted to say my GP told me my Vitamin D was WAY low and I was like, whatev because the Academy of Medicine or whoever changed the healthy vitamin d level numbers so naturally everyone is going to test low. Well, I've been taking 2000 IU/day and I feel less tired, have less body aches and just generally feel better.
All that to say if they tell you to take more Vitamin D, just do it. I like it.
Just wanted to hooray your gd appointment Laptop!! And also encourage your optimism- always, always a great addition to the power of healing!
p.s. Can't withold my enviousness for your great blood draw. It's minimum 3 sticks for Mini's draws and TONS of digging around to find my teeny tiny veins. I still (try to)enter w/ optimism though!!
So glad you are getting things checked out. My MIL had her bunions removed and said it really was not bad at all and is so happy that she did it.
When I had K I had the BEST nurse at starting the IV. I did not feel a thing, kid you not and if you have had an IV you know what a feat that is. Hurrah for people who are great at sticking people with needles. lol
Seriously though, I am so happy that you are taking these steps, it's a big deal. And if you ever want to talk (though I know you already have fabulous friends) I am happy to listen. nestiecleo29@gmail.com
Thanks you guys.
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
I get like that too. :-) Even though I don't LIKE going to those types of appointments I feel like I'm mentally checking a bunch of boxes on my adult to-do list.
Way to go LTP.
I recently went through a similar scenario: low vitamin d, talking with a therapist, figuring out I have bipolar II symptoms, then diagnosis by a psych. So far, the mood stabilizer is making a huge difference for me, in combo with an antidepressant. I'm also reading a good book- "why am I still depressed?" It's specifically about bipolar II. I'd recommend it. I had a ton of questions and fears and it's been helpful.
5 vials? are you sure you didn't go to twilight, MD?
i hope you feel better and get some answers soon.
that's a good idea about the bunion. i hear that's killer.
High five to you!
I am glad you had a good appointment.
Daycare is SO exhausting!
