Moms: How long does bathtime take?

I do both girls at once, and start to finish it is an hour.  Kristen's hair being down to her butt doesn't help, but still.  I am exhausted at the end.

Re: Moms: How long does bathtime take?

  • Less than 15 minutes. I let her play while the bath fills and then get straight to the washing.

  • start to finish - filling up the tub, brushing teeth, bathing, drying, diaper, lotion, jammies, hair - probably 30 minutes. and she doesn't really linger in the tub that long. she plays while i wash her, but we're in and out of the water in 10 minutes.

there's just a lot to the routine. i can easily see how adding another little person to the mix would double the time.

  • reasons #97439238797 i have boys. i throw them both in, let them play while it fills, wash hair and bodies at the same time and we're out.  it takes maybe 15 minutes.  if it's a weekend or if we get an early start, i'll give them more playtime.

i'm so glad i don't have long hair to wash :)  ryans crazy curls are enough.

jonah is taking SHOWERS now ALONE!!  i could cry i'm so happy about it

  • How often do you wash her hair? I wash it once a week, and often try to bring her in the shower with me for that.  the other days, I just put her hair up.

So on no hair wash days, I get the bath ready, get both kids in, wipe them quickly.  At that point we are about 5 minutes total.  Then I grab the baby out, if Anna feels like staying more I let her do that while I wipe and dress Sophia.  Otherwise I get Anna out first and then Sophia.  Anna can dress herself while I dress the baby.

So it can be 5 minutes if I'm in a rush, or 20 minutes if I let them play.  WTF do you do for a full hour? lol

ETA: Ok, so I guess it is about 20 minutes when we wash hair too.  Well, Sophia's hair just gets wiped with a washcloth, lol.

  • I wash addy's hair while the tub is filling up.  That way I can let her play at the end, and have already squeezed water out of her hair and have it somewhat combed and drying when she gets out.  Depending on the time I can bathe her in about five to ten minutes, but normally let her stay in there and play for longer.  The whole process is anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes.

  • I do them every other night.  Kristen CAN shower independently, but she won't.

I fill it while they are getting ready.  I throw them in, shampoo Bria while Kristen is getting her hair wet.  Shampoo Kristen's hair, rinse them both.  Wash Bria, wash Kristen.  Drain water while I rinse Bria with running water.  Get Bria out of tub and dry her, put lotion on her, and dress her.  During this time, Kristen is rinsing in the shower.  Put Bria to bed, get Kristen to turn the water off.  Dry her, detangle and braid the hair, get her pottied and teeth brushed.

Maybe I should start getting Kristen out first.  I don't like leaving Bria in the tub while my hands are occupied,  but I guess she's getting old and steady enough to be ok.

  • We bathe together in the morning - baby in her little tub inside the big tub where I shower. It is a slow process but it is also "fun time" for her so I stretch it out :-)

We are adding an evening dunk which is more like 15 minutes.

  • We're good for an hour too.  DD1 has hair down her back and DD2 has hair that requires multiple steps.  Plus all of the valuable 'being a mermaid' time.  And fighting over the big cup, don't want to skip that!

After an hour I am done and ready to put them in pjs.

  • 30  mins.  H does bathtime ;)
    Floyd P. Bamker - can't spell
  • Try washing her hair once a week, twice max.  You'll thank me for all that free time.  I just use some conditioning spray daily to comb and detangle.

Oh and I just have them stand up for two seconds while I rinse them with clear water.

  • Depends.  Sometimes I can have Edith in and out in about 10-15 minutes, and sometimes I let her splash around in there for an hour.

I haven't bathed Freddie yet, but it may be longer because he has eczema and I have to add some special bath stuff.

  • 10-15 minutes tops.  They get a bath every night but I do their hair in the sink.

The hair gets done every 2 weeks.  It is a nightmarish process.

  • From prep to both kids in pjs, probably 20 minutes. I'm a fun sucking hag.

  • Maybe 20 minutes total, for both of them?  I really don't know, because H does it every night.  And when he's not home, I feel SO put out that I have to actually bathe my kids.  :P

If Elizabeth has recently pooped, I'll let them play longer, so it can take up to 30-35 minutes if I just let them goof around.  But if she hasn't pooped since morning, I'm on DEFCON 2, if not 1, in terms of preventing poop in the tub, so it is all business with her bath.

    LOL

We do the same thing, since we managed to get poop in the bath TWICE.  Oh and the first time, about half their bath toys were in there and I threw them out.  The second time, the remaining if the bath toys was in there.  As the bath was draining, Anna was like "MOM! We'll have to buy new bath toys!" lol

God, I hate poop in the tub.  Elizabeth did it around Thanksgiving, and every.single.toy was in there (thanks a lot H).   Santa brought all new ones as Elizabeth's stocking stuffers for Christmas.  :)

  • I only have one kid, and bare bones bath only- 5 minutes.  That's if he's screaming and wants out.  Most of the time, though, he's having a blast and I let him play in there for half an hour or so.  We have an ungodly amount of bath toys- two towns that attach to the sides of the tub, three ducks, fish, people to play in the towns, a watering can and some cups.

God I suck. We have three duck shaped cups, a rubber duckie that neither of them care about, and a big cup for me to use. I'm all "DON'T PLAY....WASH FASTER".

  • Oh, and I used to get in there with Addy because I am always really cold and I like the hot water at night.  But I got kicked out a few weeks ago, she needs more room to swim like a green fish.

  • About 20 minutes for all three of us unless it is a finger-painting day. If we need extra scrubbing or I'm trying to waste as much of the day as possible it can get closer to an hour.

  • Depends. Sometimes it's 30 minutes. Lately it's been 7. She's not been into them recently.

  • It takes as long as I want it to.

I use it as an activity for the girls so I don't tend to rush it.

I usually give the bath in the morning to pass time.

They do not watch any TV, it's not their thing.

D doesn't get a bath as often as the girls out of sheer avoidance.  He usually takes a twenty-minute bath either with his sisters or by himself in the evening.

Dont use any water conditioners, they dont work. crap.  Plain water, no soap.  Like, zero until he is one.  Lotion while skin is still damp.
