Birchbox - worth it?

After the last talk about what everyone got I signed up for the wait list. Now that I have a chance to join I'm waffling. I don't use a lot of face stuff (cleanser, etc.) and the last box seemed heavy on that. What do you think? Yes/No?
A big old middle finger to you, stupid Nest.

Re: Birchbox - worth it?

  • Worth it for me but I am probably a product junkie. More skincare (and sometimes hair care) is indicative of their boxes though.  Its usually one "makeup" item a box. So it may not be right for you.  Most of the time I am happy with my box though, and I've discovered some really great brands.
    I've heard it both ways.
  • I didn't think so. My skin is so sensitive on what we can use, I ended up not being able to use half of the facial stuff anyway.
  • I've only been a member for the past two months (this will be my third box) and I LOVE it. I'm not a product junkie, so mostly I haven't tried new things because I didn't want to spend full price on something I wasn't going to end up liking. I have definitely found some products that I love and wil probably add to my routine.

I also like the point system, where you get points for rating the products, and then you can cash those in for full size products. Also, to me it's kind of like a wine of the month club or something like that. I love getting mail and I love getting surprises. So even if I don't like everything in a box, I like the experience so much I don't think I would cancel it.

  • The products aren't really worth it to me, since I'm really not a "product" or makeup person in general.

What is worth it is getting a surprise box of fun in the mail every month. Silly I know, but $10 for the excitement is what keeps me in it for now.

Once the excitement wears off I'll cancel. I usually use one or two of the items, but I'd never pay $10 for the box sitting on the shelf.

  • I love it.  I'm not always 100% thrilled with the products but they have more hits than misses for me.  Plus it's cheap, and something I look forward to getting in the mail every month.  Sweet!!!!!!!

    MyGlam, however, sucks.  IMO

  • If you love trying out new products and like getting pretty packages in the mail, then yes. Some months are better than others. I have received a few full-size products in my shipments over the years. I really enjoy it!
  • (lurker butting in)

I just got my email after the 3-ish week wait and officially signed up. I'm super excited to try new products. I figured it's only $10 a month (and can cancel anytime) and I enjoy getting new stuff.. especially in the mail.

So.. I might start posting more once I get my first box. I'm always super jealous of the OOTD posts because everyone looks so good and put together. I wear scrubs most days so I'll spare everyone the same boring pictures. :)
