A good friend has convinced me that Chia Seeds are great for giving a natural boost of energy, and that they are considered a "super food" because they are strong in antioxidents and such. Anyone else heard of these or use them in their diets as well? Can you tell a difference?
I picked up a bag of them last week and have been adding a small spoonful to my yogurt or on my breakfast toast, so hopefully their magical powers will work. You can't really taste them because they are really small, so that's good.
I'm always weary if I'm just wasting my time with things like vitamin supplements or if they actually do what they are supposed to. Here's a link to some of the benefits of chia seeds.
And yes, they are the same seeds that come in the Chia Pets packages, I hope I don't have a grassy mullet growing in my stomach now that I've consumed more than few tablespoons, hah.
Re: I'm trying a new "super food"
Ch-ch-ch-chia!
I haven't tried them, but my dad has been talking them up, so I've been thinking about picking some up.

It wasn't too bad pricewise. Something like $8 for a 1 lb bag, and you only need 1 tablespoon per day so it should last a while. Glad to hear at least someone else has heard of these and their benefits.
I've heard that in multiple places.. I imagine they're like sesame seeds. No flavor, just crunch..
I just can't get myself to eat them.. I'd buy them and want to stick them on a pot and watch them grow.
I have a mullet, a beard and a well-groomed coat in my belly and intestines! LOL!
Chia seeds are great! I add them to salads, smoothies, greek yogurt and stir-fry's. I used to put them in smoothies for my mom when she stayed with us. I grab my coffee grinder which is now used for chia seeds and not coffee bean and grind them up for my protein shakes.
Since ingesting them, do you see a difference in your health? I've heard of them and have been anxious to try incorporating them into my food somehow.
I haven't tried chia seeds, but I've gotten really interested in natural healing, benefits of super foods, etc. in the last year and incorportating them in my diet. You'll have to let me know how you like them. And now I can't stop saying "ch-ch-ch-chia!"
I will after I see how it goes, I guess I will give it the whole bag before judging. It said on one thing I read that if you put a few in your bottled water it is supposed to add some energy compounds to help with a workout. I am going to put a few in my water bottle for the skate park today and see if I can tell any difference.
Can you eat things like seaweed and kale? Seaweed salads at sushi places are really great "super foods" and actually taste a lot better than you think if they are prepared right.
Skate park -- fun!
I love kale and have started using it often. I blend it into my morning smoothies instead of spinach sometimes. I also like juicing it, making kale chips, or putting it my salads.
I've never tried seaweed but maybe I should give it a shot, too. Thanks for the suggestion.
I love chia seeds and they are awesome health wise. I was just curious now that I am expecting if they are still OK to eat?
Has anyone asked their Dr?
