Getting off the pill - what can I expect?
I decided today to stop taking my bc. It was making me extremely depressed and totally killed my desire to do anything with my FI. Other than regulating my periods (and the above mentioned), I didn't experience any other symptoms of being on it. I didn't gain weight, didn't break out/clear up acne, etc etc. When I go off of it, what can I expect? I assume that my periods will be wacky (which sucks, since our wedding is June 9. I'm praying I don't have my period during our honeymoon!!). Is there anything else I should be aware of?
Re: Getting off the pill - what can I expect?
If you have not already, consult with your OB/GYN about going off the BC, and ask about what you should expect, especially with you taking them to regulate your monthly cycle.
I have to agree with the PP - it may be better to wait until after your honeymoon to stop taking them. I have heard of some ladies taking their BC without stopping for the period week so they can have a nice HM.

This. Unless you're super careful. I never got a first period after going off bc because of this particular side effect. After years of being on the pill, dh and I flat out forgot until halfway through one spontaneous night...
Little sister, Miss Victoria Patience, is on her way!
I stopped taking birth control about 5 years ago for the same reason (although I later discovered it wasn't birth control that was causing it, so I restarted taking it a year later). I didn't experience anything unusual when I stopped, but everyone's different.
If you're particularly concerned about having your period over your honeymoon, just do what some of these ladies have already suggested: stay on birth control until after your honeymoon, and skip the week of sugar pills - instead, continue right on into the next pack of active birth control pills. There is no medical need to have a period if you're on birth control, and skipping just one for your honeymoon is no big deal at all.
