So, I have stopped crying every night. :)

Hopefully this means I am not going to have the PPD after all.

She's started sleeping on her back instead of her side. (I think the side was a holdover from how she laid in the womb.) And I've figured out a swaddle that she likes, that's secure, and that I'm comfortable with, and sometimes she will sleep in her crib. I fell asleep holding her for awhile again last night - on purpose.

She's driving me crazy with wanting to eat every time she sees me, but that is a separate issue.

  • its so nice when the crying stops.

i am glad you're slipping into a routine.

  • She is gorgeous, and how is she 2 weeks already?!? I feel like you JUST had her.

that's awesome news though, and I hope it just keeps getting better/easier for you.

  • Yay!  I still cry sometimes, Tamb. lol

Also, when she is older or you know she is not hungry and your H is around, have him go and comfort her.  My mom did this when trying to get my sister to sleep through the night and it worked. Of course, this is several months down the road, but just a thought.

  • I didn't know you were crying every night.  :/

I know this doesn't mean much from me, but I'm glad you stopped.  DD was addicted to the swaddle for a long while.  We also had nature sounds or classical music playing on her very own CD/USB player (fancy) in her room.  And blackout curtains.

    Good luck going forward.  :)

    Shot first, questions later.
  • does she prefer her left side?

That's great!  She's so beautiful.  And hooray for sometimes sleeping in her crib.  Baby steps, eh?

  • First, congratulations Tamb on your little girl! :) She is precious. Second, the early days of being a mom are so so hard. I know everyone has already shared this with you, but it's all kind of a mind screw - the hormones, the little helpless being relying on you 24/7... it's tough. I saw a couple of your earlier posts and I'm glad you're starting to feel better.

It's amazing what PP hormones can do. Glad you're coming down from the wave.

Week 1 went by really fast, but week 2 went by really slowly!

Angela - no, her right side. Which .. hm.. I always thought she was facing her left side when I was pregnant - my right, her left. So maybe my womb theory is wrong. But for the first week or so, any time we would put her down, she would roll to the side immediately. Like her back was curved instead of flat. lol

  • Well that's awesome! I felt like right around 2 weeks I felt a little less crazy and my mon stopped insisting that someone was with me t all times.

  • Just wanted to say she is absolutely beautiful :)

And the crying is totally normal.  All of a sudden around 8-9 weeks old a switch flipped and I felt like a normal human again.  Just give it time and settle into your routine.

And I'm with you on falling asleep holding the LO on purpose.  I spent the first 9 weeks of DS's life sleeping sitting up in the recliner because he would only sleep on me.  As much as I wanted to sleep in a bed again, I was so sad when he started sleeping in his crib :)

  • I'm so glad you're feeling better! Finding routine makes everything better. I also found that I felt so much better once I was able to take J out on my own. Being stuck in the house all day isn't good for me. Even a trip to the Tim Hortons or Starbucks drive thru is a good way to get out.

  • She truly is beautiful.  I agree that it will get better and you will settle into a routine which will get easier.  Hang in there.
