I overdosed at Home Goods yesterday.

I went in looking for an inexpensive coffee table because we just got our new sofa delivered, and our old table is too big for it. I didn't want to spend a lot because the kids will inevitably spill and draw on it.

I ended up wandering to the kids' section where I found an adorable baby doll cradle, bed, and high chair set, which I thought would be perfect to put away for a Christmas gift for Kate.

Then I found these cute little kids' beach chairs, so I picked one up for my girls and thought I might as well get one for my new niece and then I should probably get one for my soon-to-be niece or nephew to use later too.

Then I found a Fancy Nancy reusable sticker book, and I am always on the lookout for things like that to keep the girls entertained for flights or long car trips.

Then I found a Skip Hop changing wallet, so I picked that up for my pregnant sister, because it's something I'd get her anyway, and how could I resist such a great deal?

Then I wandered around some more and found kid-sized beach towels, so I had to get some for all four kids for the beach house too, and what the heck, I might as well get two for the girls to use at home while I'm at it.

Then I found throw pillows to go with the new sofa, and of course I need to buy two sets of two because I like symmetry.

Then I found curtains that could work with our bedding, which meant I'd need three sets of two.

Then I found a wall hanging that could work as a temporary filler for the big wall in our dining room where we plan to put a hutch, so I don't want to spend a lot or put up any sort of frame gallery that would require lots of patching when we eventually buy said hutch.

So into the cart all of it went.

$500 later, I never did find a coffee table.

(I am returning about $200 of it tomorrow.)

  • LOL! My husband would stroke out if I came home with $500 of items from HomeGoods on a random shopping trip.

  • I absolutely LOVE Home Goods!...could spend hours there. Big Smile

  • That is my favorite store but I think I would die before I spent that much. About a month ago I found the best curtains there for $20 a pair but I would have needed 3 pairs for the living. I carried those suckers all around the store before I talked myself out of them. A week later I decided $60 wasn't that much and they were perfect. Yup, they were nowhere to be found.

Haha, I was thinking that $500 seemed like a steal for all that!

  • I need to get my house decorated, it's making me cranky.

I really did get a lot, but man, it was still sticker shock.

That's exactly why I bought everything then, because I knew it wouldn't be there the next time I went!

H was like, I understand how the new living room furniture makes you want to get the rest of the house done now, but you need to STOP.

He later said that I won't be able to spend like that when we have a third kid, to which Emily replied, "Well, good thing you only have two kids!" LOfreakingL.
