Ombre hair is out, right?

I kind of want to do something lighter and fun for spring/summer, but I'm poor, and can't really afford to maintain highlights.  Is ombre still an option, or am I correct that it's way 2010?

Additionally, I will happily take any hair suggestions you might have for me.  Right now it's just medium brown and long with a sideswept bang and a few long layers.  I probably need to chop off a few inches b/c of split ends, but I'm kind of really attached to the length these days.

Last time I got my haircut (March) my stylist said she's been doing Ombre hair a lot. I don't think it's out yet.

I still see it quite a bit. I think you'd be fashionably safe if you took that route.  :-)

I think it is out, but you could do a very subtle version, with just a few highlights spread throughout starting lower in your hair, at different levels.  That way you get the highlighted ombre effect, low maintenance, but without it being "look, ombre hair!"

I have ombre hair with purple lowlights. I love it (although I'm thinking about doing something different for summer).

But everyone knows I'm tacky x100000000000, and I live in jeans/hoodies/tshirts.
