I want to build one of these in my yard.

A few have popped up in my hood recently and I'm kind of obsessed.

  • That is awesome! I think you should do it.

  • This is cool. I imagine ours would wind up full of flyers for pizza places, which would be unfortunate.

  • That's super cute! I have a nook, so it wouldn't do me much good, but I would love to donate some books to one that I don't need anymore!

  • This is very cool.

There arent any in NJ :(

    I might try this.

  • Do it! I'll put some books in there for you. There's one right down the street from Charlie's preschool and it's adorable (and there are always books in it!)
  • This is the best idea!

Sadly, in my neighborhood, the next morning it would be empty of books and there would be a half-drunken bottle of beer, a syringe, someone's baggie of dog poo and probably someone's urine in there.

    And that's just Tuesday!

I need to see what kind of scrap wood I have available in the garage. I have an old jail detention bench I could probably dismantle (don't ask). "Take a book, leave a book, handcuff your kids here."

Em - there's one around the corner from your friend that I have yet to meet. Brunch? Soon?

  • Someone in our neighborhood just put up one of these. I wondered what it was. Now I know! Cute idea!

OMG I love this idea!  Perhaps we should make one. We live in a neighborhood with people walking around all the time (dog walkers, kids, people walkers).
  • That's really cute. We live in an apartment complex now, but I sent my mom the link so she can do it at their new house.

  • I wonder if this would get used in my neighborhood or if people would go LTP style on it.

I will ask my roommate if he will build it.

    I love this idea. LOVE.

And here I thought you were going to say this.  I guess it's not too late for you to do both.

  • You do it and I'll send you books, unfortunately our area has next to no one living in it and half of the ones that do live here can't read.  I have an issue getting rid of books even though I know I'll never ever read them again.

I see that and think "Awesome. A litter box as big as my yard." Ew.
