PSA to MLers following/followed by another MLer on Twitter
It might be easy for dirty lurkers like me to connect a Nest name to your IRL full name (if you use it on Twitter) when another MLer openly posts her Twitter handle here on the boards. (*cough* LHC's letter post *cough*)
I mention this because somebody in particular made it a point to recently change her sn over privacy concerns if I remember correctly.

/flaps wings in sara's awesome high COL driveway
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
I didn't mean you, Sara. You've given out your last name before in some fundraiser posts for DS. I was actually referring to someone who's former SN used to rhyme with Ballsy Skater. :P
There are a few others I could easily figure out too, whether privacy is a big concern to them or like you, they don't care, I don't know. Just thought I'd put it out there.
ETA: Actually, there's only one other I could place for sure. But if anyone out there is more nosey than I and wanted to do some sleuthing, they might be able to figure others out.
To be honest, NOT posting my twitter name and being generally pretty secretive? Has not stopped assh*les from trying to find out what my real name is.
Thankfully I use my maiden name in most cases, so even if they discovered the name I use, it's unlikely they'd find out much else about me. I use my maiden name for this reason.

you needed an ae for this?
the second you start friending people off the board you start inviting people to find our your real name. im sure there are a ton of people who know my real name by now. i know other real names now too. this is not anyones first rodeo.
LOL, huber. True.
Nevertheless, I think it's a thoughtful reminder.
lol, I sense a new line for Hallmark.
When you want to be thoughtful, yet vaguely threatening...
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
After being here for about 7 years I only know one poster's real first and last name. I don't think I even know anyone else's first name.
To me LHC's real name is Lucy.
ETA: Didn't we have this issue with LHC in the not so distant past? The "inadvertent" sharing of a nestie's IRL name?
this is totes me. LOL
Oh ffs. Yes, whoeverthefuckyouare, I'm a total f*cking stalker.
Updated September 2012.
No one's calling you a stalker, but you were also responsible for outing angelaa's name via FB, weren't you? I'm not saying either instance is all your fault; it's a risk any of us take when we follow or friend other nesties.
I think BO was actually pretty nice about all of this.
Then nobody should follow me on Twitter if they don't want to. I had no idea what angelaa's name was when I posted the FB exchange -- it was only after everyone freaked the f*ck out about it that I realized. Honestly, if nobody had said a thing, no one would have been the wiser. So I fail to see how that was me playing fast and loose with anyone's personal information.

Wait, what? No. Don't post on Facebook threads that have been linked to the Nest and then get outraged when people post a screenshot of said thread that everyone has already been looking at anyway...
Exactly. I was but a lowly lurker at that point, and there were six or seven posts about it. That is the only way anyone found out- not Lucy's first posting.
Maybe you should sack the f*ck up and let everyone know what your real screenname is. And maybe people should refrain from posting about a Facebook exchange they were involved in, telling people they should go look at it, if they don't want anyone knowing what their f*cking name is.
Assh*le.

Everyone here already knows what Bannable posted about identities. Bannable is being pretty nice by explaining that she likes to stalk nesties and find out personal information? And that she's just holding back but could figure out more?
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
Uh, I think that's kind of the point of this whole thread. If you don't want your name out there, don't connect FB with the Nest and don't follow other nesties on Twitter.
Well, I think the warning is appropriate.
Wait, is she the one who posted about you and booby? I may need to recant my comment. Shoot. I can't keep AEs straight.
Sure... except that the entire post was basically a badly-cloaked way for her to say she thinks I'm an assh*le who openly shares other peoples' personal information for giggles. Which she actually admitted.
So I'm not sure how that's her being "nice" about any of this. As for her PSA, I assume that's common knowledge.

leaving aside the substantive issues being discussed in this post, i did not want this killer one-liner to go unacknowledged.
Also, considering this was the troll who was all "oooh, eerily ironic" about lshoes' husband's death and her posting about a liquor cabinet at some point, I'm not sure I'd subscribe to her brand of conspiracy theory anyway. lol.
Updated September 2012.
See, I didn't get that impression. I mean, sure, she called you loose with personal information, but we all know it wasn't intentional.
I think the reminder is a useful one, even if it should be common knowledge. If it were me, I'd unfollow you, at least temporarily.
