We are not finding out the sex of our baby so we want to do a gender neutral nursery. Originally I had planned on paiting the walls a light gray, buying a white crib and repurposing an old dresser that I would paint turquoise as the changing table. Then we would add in accents in fun, bright colors like red, yellow and turquoise.
My DH and I finally decided that we wanted to go with the Ikea Sundvik crib and went to the store to pick it up. When we got there we fell in love the gray-brown color and that's what we came home with. Here is a link of the crib we purchased.
My question is can we still go with the color scheme we originally planned? Or will it look odd to paint the walls gray with a gray-brown crib. Do you have any suggestions on what gray to use if you think it will still work? I'm having a really hard time visualizing everything together!
Re: nursery question
I think it would look nice with a light gray.
Unsolicited advice: I wish I spent less time on DD's nursery and more on what would be her big girl room. I use none of her nursery furniture (crib, changing table, rocker - even her dresser doesn't go with her big girl furniture, so it was out) and redid the whole room when she turned two. It was such a short window to use that room that I spent way too much time on. I wish I had picked a wall color and accessories (light face plate, curtains, rugs, etc) that could grow with her.
We were team green as well. Her nursery was a fun ocean theme and when she was born, I got a coral rug for a little girl. If she had been a boy, I would have gotten blue. It was very easy to update the overall neutral room to girl.
Congrats! Enjoy all the fun getting ready!
