Did/does anyone use Gerber Good Start formula?
Someone H works with gave us like 30 unopened cans of this stuff that don't expire until April 2013.
(We aren't doing formula yet, but will probably start feeding it during the day when I go back to work and doing stored bm at night.)
Re: Did/does anyone use Gerber Good Start formula?
We used a bunch of it when Joaquin was in the NICU. There wasn't a nipple shield to be had in the entire f*cking hospital (to refresh, I had her Christmas Eve during a snowstorm in GA so it was a ghost town). We supplemented, because although I was pumping colostrum and giving it to her in a bottle, the extra fat and stuff in the formula made it so she'd get up to weight faster and therefore go home faster. I don't think they'd give preemies in the NICU substandard formula, heh.
I opted to not go with Similac, because the Bump sold them my personal information. To this day I get crap at my house addressed to literally "Ms. Broc Blank." They can suck it.
Right now we use Enfmil bc we hve a ton of smples. We have 1 can of similac we'll try. I've heard it cn take a bit to find the perfect fit.
If you end up using the gerber I hve $coupons I can send you.
Okay, in retrospect, I realize this was a kind of silly post. I just never thought about the fact I'd have to pick a formula to use (at least to start off with), and suddenly in walks H with bags of this stuff, and I'm all thrown for a loop.
I need more sleep.lol
When you are ready, I would give it a try.
With DD, I BF until I went back to work and then we were using Similac Advance. Well, she was with a private provider where we provided formula - no big deal. Well, we had to switch DD to a center when she was 5 months old and the center provided Gerber Good Start formula and if we didn't use that then we had to bring our own. We switched her really fast. And, amazingly, she did so much better on that formula - not as gassy, slept so much better and didn't scream at me. Could've been a timing coincidence, but i have my doubts.
We have DS at the same center so we knew this time around to use the Gerber Good Start. He seems to do really well on it and is able to switch between that and BM easily.
My son was allergic to everything, Breastmilk, dairy and soy. When we started introducing that stuff back in Good Start was the only formula his GI doctor wanted us to use. He said it was a lot easier on babies tummies because of the whey proteins. Who knew?
Someone on the bump, who is a pediatrician, stated this formula was the closest of all to breastmilk and recommended it to bumpies.
good to know!
For some reason this is cracking me up because I fed Addy Similac, and then they recalled it when we were just finishing up with formula because of risk of being contaminated with rat poop. So not using a name brand doesn't necessarily mean using a subpar product.
::flips similac off::
