NDR Clicky Poll: Eyesight
Re: NDR Clicky Poll: Eyesight
I wear contacts mainly. I have done so for years.
Last year I was told I had dry eye....I give a SIDE EYE to the physician that tells me I have dry eye. Ridiculous. SO now I alternate with glasses as well and use these "drops."
I'd tell you how bad my prescription is. However, it's way to early in the day to give someone a stroke! ha!

lasik = best money I've ever spent
seriously
Mr. Sammy Dog
I love my glasses. I think I would miss them if I got lasik.
we all fall down sometimes
brass and ballet flats
I wear contacts 100% of the time (I have some that are night-and-day for 30 days and I won't mention how long it's been since I have changed them BUT I do take them out every so often for a break).
I like glasses, but I have to wear sunglasses when it's at all sunny out (my eyes are sensitive) and I don't want to buy prescription sunglasses AND glasses and there's no way in hell I'd wear the transition lenses.
Speaking of which, I need to schedule an eye exam for myself. DS is going back for his (hopefully last) follow up at the opthamologist in June so I've got to ask when I need to get him a regular exam at that point.

I challenge you. I had 20/800 and 20/2000 before I had nine vision correction surgeries (before LASIK). They used razor blades back in 1994.
I had 20/20 for fifteen years after surgeries but now I am back in glasses, but not that strong. Stinks. I am waiting for them to come up with something I can do to go back to no glasses.
Let me try my hand here
Although I'm DETERMINED my eyesight will magically improve.
Left Eye: -8.5
Right: -8
Other/special here. I use CRT lenses by Paragon. I am IN LOVE with them. They are hard contacts that you sleep with in at night and the contacts reshape your cornea, correcting your vision while you sleep. I had been thinking about Lasik but wasn't sold after hearing a lot of horror stories. CRT lenses were a happy in between. I go contact free during the day and love it! Getting used to the hard lenses was a bit awkward at first, but after a month or so my eyes adjusted to the bulk of the hard lens. I can even skip a day or two a week and my vision is still good :-)
They were a bit more expensive than normal contacts, but less expensive than Lasik. I was able to save about $400 off the price through insurance and using my FSA.
(note: these contacts aren't for everyone, your prescription has to be in the right range)
Left -12.5
Right -11.5
I have no idea what this translates to in 20/20 talk. I just know that without contacts or glasses, I literally have to hold something about 2 inches from my eyes to see it clearly.
You win. I think -15 is legally blind.
This for me too. A girlfriend and I got it at the same time and it lasted about 4 years before we both needed contacts. It was done by one of the most experienced surgeons in the country (something like 3,000 procedures under her belt when we saw her in 2005). They advertise "free touch-ups for life" for reason! It is not a permanent solution for many people. Although my prescription is much better than it used to be (-.75 vs. -2.75) and I don't have to wear contacts, I get reeeally cranky when things are just the least bit fuzzy.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
Same here! I don't remember how bad it was, but the big E was blurry for me and I couldn't make out anything else. Now my vision is 20/15. I've had it for 2 years and still going strong.
People are always impressed with how far away I can see as well, but I have had my eyes checked. I have always been a reader, but in college, my eyes started feeling really strained after short periods of time reading. The eye doctor prescribed very low strength reading glasses for me, but I don't need them most of the time.
LASIK talk actually kind of depresses me. I have gone to several surgeons who all agree that there is not enough -cornea?- to fix my eyes, even with the surgery. My dad, who has had horrible eyesight his whole life as well, just had cataract surgery where they insert a lens into the eye. For the first time in over 40 years, he does not need glasses. It's quite a shock for me to see him without them - I've never known my Daddy without them!
Good gracious!!!! (I hand you the baton lady!)
I'm nearsighted.
I wear contacts for most of the day but switch to glasses close to bedtime or if my allergies are bothering me. I can't see without my glasses or contacts.
Sometime I'd like to get corrective surgery but it's not a big priority.
Glad I could help, LOL!
