TEAL! So frustrated..

Okay, so I love the paint color above! For our second bedroom in our new house, however.. I can not find a  bedspread, comforter, quilt, anything for the bed that I think works!!!! I don't want solid teal (overload) and I'm accenting with dark brown, and a creamy white (for the trim, original wood from 1940 was painted by previous owner and I don't think it stripable- bastards) and dark purple (very small doses of this as my husband hates purple- I'm thinking only like the vases and nick nack items in the room).

Please help!

  • Wowza, that's going to be a bold room.  Personally, I'd go with either a solid white or a white/brown pattern for the bed and/or curtains.  Something like this, which I know is a living room, but its a similar idea:

  • We used a teal for our wedding and accented with cream and silver. It worked very well together. Could you find a silver and cream bedspread?

This is kind of pretty and it brings in the silver, cream and brown tons. Click here

ETA - I'm not sure about the purple though. I'd have to see it.

  • What about something like this from BBB?

  • I would go with a darker teal, personally.  That is BRIGHT.

This is Benjamin Moore Dark Harbor, mixed 25% darker than the original formula.  A lot richer than what you posted.

Then, I would do like pp suggested and do a bed layered in white with tons of texture.  I wouldn't do a brown accent (wood tones would be gorgeous), but a purple throw or pillow might be nice.

I would keep a LOT of white in there.

All this. Do you get a lot of light in your room? We have a white quilt on our bed and it looks really nice with a bold teal (we used to have teal walls but I went a light gray-lilac last year. Just use oxyclean and an occasional bleach to keep your whites white.

I love purple (it's my color), so that accent is a perfect accent for teal but I would go jewel tone with the teal and not lighter. And white curtains. (I'm sure I'll think of more things to add lol.)

I do like the darker teal. I think I might go with a darker shade of the one I posted. And I think you're right about whites and creams to make the room brighter. There are two large windows and it has good lighting.

Down side: Now my husband is right.. Lol. He said I'd change my mind about the colors.. We're painting all but two rooms in the new house and he thinks I'm gonna change my mind about every single one.. We shall see! Lol.

Shh! Don't let him hear you say that! You're not "changing your mind" so much as altering the initial plan. Still the same color family. Heck, still the same slice of the wheel!

  • I am obsessed with teal and even though we are still renting, I have decided to go with the darker teal on at least one bedroom wall and the bedding I'm registered for is Barbara Barry Poetical  (just the duvet, not the baby blue coverlet) it looks sort of gray but in the store it has a tan look too.

  • Ditto lots of white and texture.

We have a teal kitchen and yellow goes really well with it. Like this:

  • Oh, and I just love this use of yellow and purple:

  • I love red or orange with teal. I would die if DH would let me do the bedroom a dark teal with a red or orange print comforter.
