UGHHGHGH The weirdo political talk has begun
I hold some pretty strong political views but I really prefer to talk about it at home, with close friends/family or online (like here not FB so much). I get weirdly uncomfortable when people start spewing their politics in polite converstaion.
Anyway, I was watching my DD through the window at her dance lesson tonight and some of the women I am friendly with started talking about the healthcare reform act. Some of them were like OMG it's like socialism etc etc. It was so irritating.
I'll be glad when this election cycle is over. I will be SO, so glad.
Re: UGHHGHGH The weirdo political talk has begun
Socialism is awesome.
Do you know what is not awesome? Theocracy, plutocracy, and fascism.
But whatever, it is cool that poor people don't have healthcare while insurance companies post 12 billion in profits a year. Yay, America!
Dude. You get me.
One of the people complaining was an insurance sales rep. She's pissed that "Obama cut the flexible spending amount from $4000/year to $2500."
::sigh::
BUT I am ok with the reform act not going through. It isn't drastic enough, and I think it getting shot down will open the door to single payer or universal healthcare.
Technically she's mad that she can't write off an extra $1500 of her income as untaxable.
This just SCREAMS first world problem to me. I'm sure any crafty accountant could make up for that piddly $1500 somewhere.
