My neighbor and I are doing it together, and we'd like to find a 5K to run on July 4th together. We walked the rest of the route after we got done with the program. Now my legs feel a bit like jelly. I've never been a runner, but I want to be a person who enjoys running.

Have fun! I went from not being able to run a 5k to doing a half marathon within about 9 months. For me, the fun part was when I got better and could keep going and going.
Races are a blast. Good luck with all of it.
I'm starting this week too! I'm doing the treadmill version, though. Not sure how different it is.
It's getting too hot to run outside, here. For me, anyway.
I think by July you can easily do 35 minutes. I've never done one faster than 30 mins (I'm a 10 minute miler). I'm not quick, but I get there.
Humidity is a killer, but if you stick with it then 30-35 is great. Give it about a month or so and you'll be able to reevaluate where you are, and what seems plausible for you.
I'm going to disagree w/ Meggers about the 30-35 mintue time thing. Seriously, don't worry about your time at all. If you start getting and idea of how fast you should be running the running parts, you're more likely to get frustrated with the program (either for being slower or getting injured from trying to do too much too fast).
Your first race is always just about finishing. You are way WAY to early into the program to even worry about how long it will take you. Once your running parts get longer, you'll get a feel for what is right for you.
My first 5k was 43 mintues. But I didn't walk a single part of it. I would have been so discouraged if I thought I was supposed to do it in 30-35 minutes. That wasn't realisitc for me. I'm now down to about 34-36 minutes for a 5k.
Moral of the story, don't worry about how fast you think you should go. Just go. Crossing the finish line is all that you should care about right now.
Thanks, melodramatic. I hope it doesn't sound too creepy to say that you were some of my inspiration to start this. I've seen some of your before and after pictures, and you seem to find the time even though you've got a little one about my son's age. Plus, you're also in a humid as he!l state.
I'm actually having a tough time finding a 5K anywhere near me close to July 4th. I'm actually on the IA/IL border, so maybe I'll look for something in IL instead of IA.

It is hot and humid here and there in the middle of summer. If you aren't in a major metropolitan area, finding a race might be a little more challenging. Runners don't like to run in summer either so the races do tend to slow down during the hottest summer months.
If you have a big city around you, google local running/track clubs. They will have a list of local races throughout the year. Or if you have a running store, check out their list of events in store or on line.
Aww now I feel bad. I was thisclose to starting my reply by saying that the important thing was finishing and having fun, but didn't want to be cliche.
As I said, I never had been and never will be fast, but I love races. Crossing the finish line is the best feeling, even if you're last.
